Car rental on Kona? How far to airport?

I just checked on car rentals for Kona on March 24, when we'll be there on Pride of Aloha. The Enterprise office nearest the pier has no cars available for that day. What would be our second best option? How long would it take to find a taxi to get us to the airport? I knew I shouldn't have waited this long but we have been debating between booking a snorkeling trip by boat or driving to a beach.

Try some other car rental companies - Hertz, etc. Some, but not all, provide shuttle service from the pier to pick up your car - be sure to ask. Be sure to get their local phone number so you can use your cell phone to call them when you are tendering or on the dock in case no shuttle is there. We had to wait quite awhile for the shuttle to get to us but eventually it did!

It's a ten mile drive to the airport from where you come ashore. Surely some rental company has a shuttle to get you there.
