Together the three largest Cunarders ever built comprise one of the most modern fleets to grace the ocean waves. Between April 2012 and early 2013, they will continue to acquaint guests with captivating destinations and our enduring sophistication; on 5 June 2012, all three Queens shall meet in Southampton to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.

P&O Cruises has revealed details of “The Grand Event” -- a momentous occassion promising to bring their entire fleet of seven ships together for one day for the first time in the company’s history.

 

The celebration, which will take place on 3 July 2012 in Southampton, is part of a year of celebrations scheduled to mark the 175th anniversary of the Peninsular Steam Navigation Company being awarded the lucrative Admiralty contract to carry mail to the Iberian Peninsula and beyond. Not long afterwards the concept of cruising was born and since 1837, cruising has evolved into a popular holiday choice and now P&O Cruises carries more British cruisers than any other line.

It appears all 3 are sailing from Southampton throughout Summer 2012 so it's a wonder there aren't more than two dates when they are in port together. Somehow however, Cunard have managed to catch Tuesday 5 June which is a Bank Holiday to celebrate HM's diamond jubilee and follows the Spring Bank Holiday on Monday 4 June!!!
