lukesmom Posted March 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2011 I'm not sure if we should pre book a tour as our young kids may decide they don't want to go. Can you book at the pier or will everything be booked already (we are travelling next week and it's spring break so I am worried about things being booked)
Bravedasher Posted March 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2011 We just returned from our cruise. We highly recommend Moby Dick Tours for the stingray tour. The 3 guys who were on our tour were wonderful--very helpful. Did some snorkeling first and then on to the stingrays. The stingrays are very gentle and used to people. You stand in the water and the 3 tour guides help you touch the stingrays. If we were to go back, we would definitely book with Moby Dick--very professional unlike some others. They have a website: www.mobydicktours.com. Have fun!
cosytoes Posted March 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2011 We booked with moby dicks but due to bad weather we were tended in and at a different pier so missed their bus. However there a loads of trips available. There are three piers you can dock from and all have booking agents that work for the post authority. You sign up with them then they take you to a mini bus then down to the marina. The boat ride is approx 30 mins before you get to the sandbar. All were $40 dollars, drinks on the boat, rays, snorkerling etc. Ours took lots of photos, showed you them on the laptop then burnt them on to a CD whilst still on the ship. However they wanted $60. As there only two of us that was for 10 photos, but some people grouped together and split the cost as it was the same price no matter how many photos. So I suggest asking the cost before you get in the water.
cosytoes Posted March 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Forgot to add there were four ships in that day and they seemed to cope with everyone. Most folk seem happy to go to the beach or shops so not over busy at the rays even with 4 ships!
JohninDC Posted March 8, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Moby Dick was taking walk up business the day we used them - but only for the afternoon tour; the morning tour was full. Better to book in advance - they were great with the kids on our tour and even has kid sized snorkel gear available. Good luck! :)
Luke gs Daddy Posted March 11, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 11, 2011 Pre Book it. They can always enjoy the the boat ride. DS saw the rays in the water and did not want to get in. So we enjoyed the ride.
