manda513 Posted March 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2011 We are looking at taking a last minute (to me...the planner!) cruise in May. There will be 4 of us, Mom (28), Dad (34), and 2 DD's (7,5). Not big drinkers, Dad and DD's aren't the best swimmers so that limits us a bit as to what to do. Any recommendations on things to do around the island. I'd love to see the ruins but not sure it would hold the attention of the little ones. We've never cruised before so really looking forward to this trip! JohninDC Posted March 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Check out Paradise Beach. $15 cab ride from the port, new pool, new restrooms, good drinks and bar food, and good service -- your kids would love a relaxing day on the beach, and you will love the margaritas!
AWEST84532 Posted March 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 8, 2011 Rent a VW convertible at the dock. Drive around the island on your own. Stop when something piques your interest. The ruins on Cozumel (San Gervasio) are not a major site, drive in and look about. Head into town for lunch and do some shopping and grab some great Mexican food. When you're tired head back to the ship and call it a day. It is a nice way to spend the day!
VRRoom Posted March 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2011 The ruins you can visit on the island aren't very impressive, and if the kids aren't interested, no need in tackling the LONG trip to Tulum. Lots of beautiful beaches for just hanging out. You might try Punta Sur for a climb up the lighthouse and hanging out (literally) in the hammocks. Girls will get a kick out of all the iguanas scurrying around. Shopping can be fun for the family, as well.
