trickyoat Posted March 12, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Hello, Does anybody know who is the charterer of Costa Allegra for 2012 cruises to Norway etc as they don't appear on the main Costa website? Thanks in advance Rick
G.M.T. Posted March 12, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Where did your hear that the Allegra was being chartered? Accoring to the Germany 2012 Catalogue, there is a gap of 4 months bteween March and July 2012 where the Allegra is not being shown. The last cruise is 5th. March, 12 days Sharm el Sheik to Savona, then 13th. July 9 days Amsterdam to Savona. Found nothing on the web. Ron
Goldryder Posted March 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2011 There is one company that charters the smaller, more traditional ships that has yet to advertise their 2012 cruises. They have chartered Mona Lisa & Oceanic in the past...they like the older vessels, but due to SOLAS 2010, they are in fairly short supply, so they might be the charterer of Allegra...given where she is leaving from after that 4 months up this end of the world... http://www.lord-nelson-seereisen.de/ It's not an impossibility, they usually do late spring/early summer Baltic/Scandinavia cruises. On the other hand Allegra could be on a 4 month charter to Iberocruceros for Baltic/Scandinavia, since Costa are borrowing Grand Voyager from them for a similar length of time over the winter 2011/12. trickyoat Posted March 12, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted March 12, 2011 I saw her booked in at Geiranger three times next summer here: http://www.stranda-hamnevesen.no/GeirangerfjordenCP2012 and wondered who was operating her for these. The iberocruceros theory could be spot on after the use of Grand Voyager in the Red Sea. Incidentally her sister Costa Marina is also doing Northern Europe this coming summer, however surely Costa must be thinking of moving these ships on in the not to distant future. Rick The Allegra has a very strong loyal following, as there are many cruisers who like the small family atmosphere. Also Costa uses the smaller ships to test new markets as they have done in the past i.e. Indian Ocean, Far East and most recently Res Sea. That being said the Marina has been on the sell list for at least the last 5 to 6 years, but with no takers sofar: http://www.global-international.com/eng/ships_dett.php?id=27 Ron
Goldryder Posted March 12, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 12, 2011 Winter 2011/12 Marina is in the Red Sea & Mauritius....she actually started the Mauritius itineraries a few years ago...before Europa, Victoria & Romantica went down there. It would not surprise me if Allegra is being borrowed by Iberocruceros. Afterall, regardless as to the fact that Iberocruceros (& AIDA) and owned outright by Costa, they would want a returned backscratch for borrowing Grand Voyager next winter when Marina is down in the Indian Ocean. Allegra & Voyager are pretty well matched really, they should both do well in the Red Sea. However...the fare for the repositioning from Barcelona to Sharm on Voyager is the same as one half of my B2B on Classica. Voyagers fares seem a bit on the high side to me. But that is last year though...2010... This year Paquet has got Iberocruceros Grand Mistral for its Marseille charters. They wanted a bigger ship for 2011 since Allegra was sold out too quickly last year.
