babies12 was not addressing you. She was addressing the OP who started this thread. It's just that her post (#62) immediately followed your post (which was post #61). That's where the confusion lies.
Thanks guys! Love all my Cruise Critic friends!:)

I believe that if anyone is missing the point here it is the OP. Complaining about debarkation and missing a flight is one thing, but in light of people probably dying at the very moment you are complaining about being inconvenienced is what bothers me. You have the option of never sailing Carnival again, what options do the loved ones of the missing have at their disposal at this moment? Just my thoughts on it. By the way...welcome home, I trust you had a safe journey.

OP...what on earth possessed you to come to what essentially amounts to the Cruise Critic CCL "fan club" and flame Carnival like you did? Were you actually expecting sympathy? In my line of work, we would call that a "grandiose delusion"

Everything was great till the end.

Yes we will cruise again, planning now for one with our parents, we will NOT be going Carnival as they seem to be getting into not just the Walmart stage but the a cheep convince store.

Thanks for the laugh OP. Of course, I don't understand your last comment unless you also enjoy frequenting Wal-Mart and "cheep convince [sic]" stores. You state everything about the cruise was great until the end, which was a relatively minor part of the experience and not completely in Carnival's control.

So OP, will you be hanging out at 7-11 or Wal-Mart today? :)

Sorry your flights and stuff was delayed but frankly, life happens. Sometimes, getting into port late happens, as it did here, for obvious reasons. And yes, the well-oiled machine gets a bit clogged. However, I truly fail to see what your beef is about. This is just one of many reasons to buy trip insurance and then relax.

I would be thanking my lucky stars that you were out to sea and not in port yesterday morning and that Carnival was concerned about others safety. I would also be thankful that Immigration does their jobs and implements ship searches and calls non-citizens down before clearing the ship.

This could of happened on any cruise line. Enjoy your next cruise elsewhere.

I don't usually comment, however, OP I would just like to say this: You can't mess with Customs. If they won't allow everyone to disembark UNTIL that one international is found there is nothing that Carnival can do. It's not their fault and you really can't blame a company who was taking your best interest to ensure YOUR safety. If you really think about it, they wanted you home safe and sound. You don't have any right to come in here and complain honestly. Now, if you had been one of those people that had to pay to change your flight, then you could complain about the airline.

Carnival not saying over and over, "At this time folks we really don't know what's going on. We have to wait to get clearance. So please hold on tight and we will move forward when we can." I can tell you, that you would have been even more annoyed having your CD with the annoying voice coming over the speaker, interrupting the movie and your quiet every 15 minutes.

So, I bet that if you can sit back and think about this: If we had moved ahead and not found that international and he ended up being some psycho that was going to blow up the ship and did would you be happy that they just went ahead and left him? Yes, this is an extreme, however Customs Border Patrol and Immigration have a specific style and way of doing things, so Carnival cannot step on those toes.

I am not here to bash you, you made your point and you have been told one or two things. As you mentioned in your post though that you this is a forum for those to espress their opinions, ask questions and receive help. However, everything that you mentioned was great as a review, but disheartening when you complain about debarkation due to a natural disaster where thousands are dying. I'm sure you didn't mean it or at least I hope you didn't but please read your original post and understand why you are getting all of these messages and replies.

Some people just like to hear themselves talk, I can't believe it. When I refer people to this site I tell them to not read too much into the handful of complainers. There are people out there "You just can't make them happy" And to make the comment that some people should have been rounded up at 8:00 Am OMG! I agree with others be happy your cruise went well and that they protected you from harm. And as far as the rooms being closed off. Good for them, I can't imagine having to clean all those rooms running from one area to the next and having to stop my flow cause people were in the way. If you have never done the work then you have no idea how hard it is. A few extra hours on the ships is fine by me they usually have to call security to get me off at the end. (:pjust kidding, but we usually are among the last off:p)

OK so here is a quick run down of the Spirit. Thus is our 2nd time on the ship. We have always had a balcony (recommended) But we have traveled with Princess more in the past. We have been on over 10 cruises, are late 40’s ,both professionals and have not had any real complaints about any of the cruise lines until now.

We got off the ship yesterday with 2000 other guest who had to scramble to reschedule flights. More of that later. Read to the end …

Getting on was a breeze. You had to go to the Lido deck or just wander. They have roped off you going to the rooms at all. No access until they say it is open after 1:30pm. Rooms were nice ,clean and wonderful stewards, Always had our ice there and a cooler filled with ice for extras, Towel animals each night and it helps to give them an extra tip at the beginning.

The ship is clean and has a very nice atrium, we did find that they have 2 small shops A LOT less than what we have found on other ships and not as impressive . I have bought 1.5 ct emeralds off of other ships that were priced very well and yet there was not the selection on this ship. Lots of 10.00 19.99 deals for less expensive items like watches. So about a 20 min time shopping UNLESS this is your 1st cruise , than take your time look around there’s always something for everyone.

The casino is there we don’t gamble but thought we would play the penny machine and win $5.00 on the first roll and out we went. It was always busy and they will take money any way they can ATM,cash, credit card, ship and sail.

Shows didn’t go but people did enjoyed the it seemed.

The food was fine on the Lido deck lots of choice husband loved the Chinese section.

Main dinning room had excellent service. Love Santos he is wonderful and personable remembers all your likes. Food was good and remember if you want to try a couple of things they will bring you both. We asked for a large table and were given a table for 2 in the isle was our only complaint here. Eat breakfast in dinning room if you can it is excellent. PLEASE NOTE: on formal night we saw jeans , woman in shorts that showed both cheeks and nothing was said, They announced that the dress code would be enforce but most nights you got may people looking like they were dressed for a kids baseball game, yep hats at the table and torn tee shirts.

Get on and off the boat for shore went fine no hitches. Lots to do and see.

Now for the not so good.

Everything was great till the end. We turned on CNN the night before leaving and the news of Japan and the tsunami was just reported. Lots of prayer went out to them and amazing news footage, Early wake up and they announce that the waves are headed to our port and we will be delayed 1 ½ hours staying out to sea for safety. No problem we’ve all been told to book after 12:30 flights ours was at 1 pm. We are told we can stay in our rooms. There is thick fog, fog horns and rolling waves coming at the ship but not causing much more than slight movement. Kind of spooky. Jen the cruise director is giving out this information with the most irritating voice you can imagine. Than we start to get announcements from the captain, that we will be out longer and that the ports have all closed. We will be even later maybe 11 or 11:30.

Now we are asked to leave our rooms at 10:30 and wait. Still getting little news just that voice say “it’ll be just a but” Than at 11:30 they start call for the international or green card people to go to the lounge… why just now.. They than can’t seem to fine a number of them.. Now we are getting into port. People who had early fight called to change them to 1 pm flight and they along with us see it will really be cutting it close. At 12 pm they start call for 1 person to show up for clearance. He is nowhere to be found but a ship load of people are kept on board for another hour. We now have all missed our afternoon flight. Time to start calling the airlines. Southwest will change flights no charge NOT because Carnival held up the ship past the open port at 11am but due to the tsunami . Other airlines are charging people and angry is rising. They find the guy and than start taking people off the ship about 1 pm. All through this we hear that terrible voice giving no information just that “ it’s be a bit longer”.

So our BIGGEST complaint is that Carnival made a bad situation extremely worse. HOW they should have called and cleared and had those people In the lounge and all accounted for by 8 am! Not waiting till we got to the port. We all could have been off the ship by 11:30 instead it was 1:30 people standing in the hallways since 10:30 and may elderly people in distress. Many people missing flights and having added expense for air and maybe hotels now. Not only was it our inconvinced (the airport was a mad house) but also the people getting on. They were at the pier at 11am and were lined up for 2 city blocks with their luggage they were not happy, hot and tired.

Yes we will cruise again, planning now for one with our parents, we will NOT be going Carnival as they seem to be getting into not just the Walmart stage but the a cheep convince store.

Accept that walmart is the most successful company in the world and donates more to charity around the world then any corp. in the world, it sounds more like a union meeting where everybody doesn't know what the heck is going on.;)

What is wrong with Walmart Plan B. I shop there, I also cruise carnival! Have gone out of the country every year and yeah I am driving my 5th beamer, Even traded the Mercedes to get one. Get the stick out of your @$$. Stop trying to be all that. And be happy you got home safely.

You could have said they were not great with info etc. but to never cruise with them because of this. Stop sounding like a whiney brat.

I read this earlier, I was going to post then but was watching FB. I have a friend in a band who was touring in Japan when this happened. He posted that he had made it threw the quack and was rattled but there was no cell. So until today we had no idea what happened with the tsunmi . So please there are many people here with friends, and family in Japan who could care less if you were inconvenienced.

sounds like you are a little sour the cruise had to come to an end.....stuff happens, learn to go with the flow. Let Carnival know how you think it could have been done better....who knows your idea might help them the next time something happens like that. Turn the bad into a good!!!

Yeah Carnival should have definitely scheduled the tsunami at a time more fitting for your flight schedule.

That is what I said too. Makes sense that Carnival would not mind hearing if anything went wrong that they may better provide. The OP's information about how they percieved an issue may be of help to Carnival as they do take complaints seriously if they find value in it. Only Carnival would know what to do with that information. This OP may bring a good idea to their table or they can better explain from their perspective any questions the OP may have. I hope it is brought to Carnival's attention so they can speak for themselves as I trust Carnival's business plan has customer service high on their list as any good business does.

OP....I am really hoping that your comments are the result of being tired from your travels.

IMHO....these comments are far from balanced or fair. It is obvious that you enjoyed it - up until what you had planned was effected by the weather , but that is not something Carnival or anyone has the ability to control. Cruising is full of uncertainity - and weather is just one! ;)
