First cruise with kids in August on the Dream?

Hi, I'm new here and I hope it's ok that I jump in with a quick question!

 

We are considering taking our first ever cruise on the Carnival Dream in August. We're considering the 7 day Eastern Caribbean route staying in one of the 4J, I think (obstructed view) cabins. Our kids are 3 and 6 years old. Can any of the more experienced cruisers tell me if this would be a good introductory cruise for a family with young kids? We aren't expecting a luxury vacation, just one that will be relaxing and fun for all of us with clean accommodations and decent food.
