I heard that north Atlantic waters are rough. We are sailing out of NYC on May 29th. Any feedback on prior experiences? We are headed to San Juan and that area.

We thought the same thing. Our June cruise on the Victory to Canada were probably some of the calmest seas we've ever had.

 

It's a risk, but no different than hitting rough waters in the Caribbean!

Your chances of rough water are much greater in the N Atlantic than most anywhere else in the world, that being said it can also be quite smooth.

I have only cruised out of these waters twqice and both times were bumpy. Dont know if its the time of year or what. Once in June and again in October. It may have been my weeks and dont know if its like that all the weeks. Its your cruise--you are gonna havea ball.

Just be prepared with sick sickness remedies if you think you might have a problem. My daughter is prone to motion sickness so she took a Bonine tablet every night at bedtime. The only time she ever felt even slightly sick was in the late evening when the Bonine was probably wearing off.

May can still be pretty rough. The waters start to get calmer in June. It is rare to see "Caribbean smooth" seas in the Atlantic. We sailed to Bermuda mid-may one year and it was very rough down and back.
