Sheraton Nassau Day Passes

I got an email from the resort on August 20. They do not mention the pools are included but do state "beach access only". Are the pools no longer covered under the day pass?

 

Thought folks may be interested in the e-mail I just received today re;Sheraton Day passes. Their response is first followed by my inquiry. Hope this helps answer some questions. It took several days to get a response.

Thank you for inquiring about our Day Use room; at the Sheraton Nassau Beach Resort

 

Day Passes rate as follows:

 

· DAY PASS withoutroom is $25.00 per adult; $12.50 per child under 18 years

 

· ROOM ONLY Day Use rate is $99.00 for 2 adults. Each additional person is $18.00

 

· DAYLUNCH with Room is $145.00 which includes Lunch for 2 adults.

 

The beach and pool experience will cover cost for towels, chairs, umbrellas and NON-MOTORIZED water sports, equipment only

 

Day use rate includes Taxes and Gratuities .Day use rooms are available between 7 a.m. to 7 pm, based on availability

 

Day use rooms can be booked in advance, or the day of arrival. A credit will be required at time of booking, to guarantee the reservation

 

Taxis are available for you at the Ship Pier

 

The Hotel is about 12 minutes away from the Ship Port

It does mention the pools about halfway down!:p

Your best bet is probably the Sheraton. It's $25 pp. No food or drink included. But there are water toys, snorkeling gear, 3 pools, bar and grill, swim up bar, restrooms, towels, chaise, umbrellas, palapas and most importantly lifeguards.

 

The inconsistency comes from changes in season.

 

Oldie thread but it finally answered my question about snorkeling. Thank you!

Q~~The boys will want to snorkle so do we rent them once we check in for the day pass or is there a vendor on the beach.

Q~~I read that snorkling is that great in Nassau but best at the Sheraton. So once we get our equipment where is the best spot to check out the fish if you are staring at the ocean?

last Q~~I saw a big water toy for kids to play in but was this at the Sheraton or am I confusing it with the other threads about day passes?

Yes, I think this will be great for us. There is a 40 year gap between my son and us so it is looking like this place will give us a good balance for all.

It's funny that this got bumped up - I forgot to ever post an updat eafter my cruise - after all of my hand-wringing and back and forth on what to do in Nassau, Hurricane Irene came along and we only went to Freeport anyway! I guess I'll try again on my next cruise! :)

Same as they are at most resorts.. Beer is about $7/ fruity drinks around $9 with gratuities included. Brands $10 wih gratuities included.

This has been a great thread to read - glad it got bumped up!

 

We were thinking of heading to the Sheraton first thing in the morning on the jitney, but we'd like to get a more authentic local lunch than what I would expect the hotels to offer. Would it be reasonable to head back to the fish fry area or lunch carts by the straw market to get a bite and then head back to the resort? If so, any recommendations on which of those two options sounds better? Also, does the Sheraton have any kind of lockers available?

Walk to the main street which has the back entrance to the new straw market. Turn right and head toward mc Donald's. You will walk past David yurman jewelry, Colombian emeralds....to George's street. It's about four blocks on the main street. Turn right and you will see several number ten jitneys to cable beach. Easy. Wish I had these directions two days ago.

I think the Hilton also has snorkeling gear, but the Sheraton is the only one with any sea life. They have created rock walls just off the beach to attract sea life. It's not a reef.. (reef systems near the shore have all be wiped out from overuse and construction).

 

Snorkeling is beginner level. You'll see some sea life in the rocks.. but that's about it. The rest is sandy bottom

 

In order to do any real snorkeling, you'll need to do a boat tour. The NINJA goes out from a nearby dock (near sheraton/whyndham) and is reasonably priced.

Thanks for forwarding the e-mail you received from the Sheraton! Very helpful! Just wondering...did you book anything? I am thinking that it might be a good idea to pre book a day room but I can't seem to do it on their web site. Has anyone done this and what is the procedure? Thanks!

I just received an email from the Sheraton in Nassau and a day pass has gone up $5.00 to $30.00.

 

We aren't going to reserve a room because with a day pass, we can use their beach, facilities, get beach loungers, etc. If anyone would like to reserve a room, you have to call in advance to get that done.

 

We would consider reserving a room if one of us needed that, but we won't be at the resort for a full day and it just will not be necessary or needed.

 

We are going to eat lunch at The Fish Fry and possibly check out Junkanoo beach, so we will be coming and going from the resort. We will go the Sheraton first and get our arm bands and stay there for a bit. We are planning on eating lunch at Oh Andros (The Fish Fry). We will check out Junkanoo Beach as well. I've heard that you can walk from Junkanoo Beach back to the cruise terminal because it isn't far at all. Then maybe shop a bit...who knows.

 

I would like to check out the Atlantis resort, but it is essentially out of curiousity because my daughter's agency had a hand in the design of the hotel, pool furniture, fabrics, etc.

 

Will the resort let people just walk around to check the place out? I can see why they would limit that to keep crowds of tourists to a minimum. I know if I was staying there I would appreciate being there without a crowd wandering around.

 

Has anyone walked from Junkanoo Beach back to the cruise terminal? I had a knee replacement recently and I can walk, of course, but not for a considerable distance. :cool:

You can only walk around Atlantis after the guards leave around 7, otherwise you are restricted to the Casino and shops. Walked from Junkanoo last month, it is about a half-mile walk, but the sidewalk closest to the beach isn't in the best shape.
