Fun Ship Dollars vs. bar/soda/pic vouchers

Recommended Posts

I purchased mine on Saturday and have gotten 2 emails. I am just waiting for them to show up. I'm glad to know that it takes a couple of days. I will keep checking. Thanks :)

I have bought and got the 2nd email same or next day and applied in 3-4 days but I bought some this Monday that I still don't have the 2nd email on. If I dont have that email by Monday I will call and check on it but other than that I don't worry.

I don't think I'll buy any more than 3 weeks out though.

Where can you see your OBC at? Some people say under the billing tab and others say you have to view your documents

On Carnival.com click on "manage your cruise" then once logged in "view cruise docuements" another window pops up, you need only click the bottom option. Again a pdf file opens showing the details of your cruise, price, taxes, guests. On page two after all the information on cruise cost you will see a seperate box showing OBC.

We bought drink vouchers and onboard credit. I thought the drink vouchers were useful for the MDR, just pulled one out for my drink with meal. I think you save money with them, or did at the time - there's no extra gratuity, but I don't think you pay the full 15% on the vouchers, I think there's a discount off the drinks that way. I may be wrong. But I found it convenient to have the vouchers prepaid, that way DH and I didn't know how much we were spending on drinks (soda or booze) :D

bar coupons are a lot different today then it was 2 years ago. (they cost more and the drink prices went up considerably.

2 years ago the frozen foo foo drinks costs only 5.00 so the coupons well worth it.

Today those same foo foo drinks cost almost 8 bucks and the coupon is only good for up to 5.75. THe rest will be charged to your sign and sail card.

They are worth it if you drink the $5.75 drinks because you save the 15% which can add up over the length of your cruise. I drink beer so they are $5.75 each so a bucket should be about $23 which is the cost of the coupons so I should save about $3.45 with each bucket. Even if I have 1 bucket a day thats $25 over the course of a 7 day cruise...not a ton of money but I'm not giving it to Carnival. Some of the foo foo drinks are $5.75 too...depends if you don't buy the cup and what type of alcohol is in it...I used them, thought they were convenient to hand the server 4 coupons and get my nice, cold bucket of beer by the pool

I purchased Fun Ship Dollars Last Thursday and did not make a specific request to put on my OBC. I do not see them on my invoice either. Should I be concerned? Will I get them in the mail? If I do get them in the mail how do I get them on my account? I cruise in 13 days.

Mine showed up today - just where you said it would! They added a little box under the Cruise Itemized Charges box on Page 2. Yippee!:D

In the mail probably, just take them with you and once on board go to the pursers desk and have them added to your account.

Have fun!

did you get a confirmation with your order?

did you use your address or your booking number?

did the charge go through??

Allow 7 days from when you ordered-- if you did not receive them by then I would call to find out if it is on your booking

I vote for fun ship dollars.

My gf gave us a photo voucher (& some other stuff) as a gift. I had a hard time using the photo voucher... We did not like any of our posed photos (& we had just gotten our annual family photos) & you have no control over the size of the candid/gang way shots. So we had to get two gang way shots that we were only O.K. with so that we would not lose any value on the voucher, but we had to chip in fun ship dollars/OBC/sign & sail because the gang way shots that we wanted were in a larger format...

Make sense?

Also you have to carry that voucher with you - so we had to make a special effort to use the gifted soda vouchers too.

When did you order yours?? I ordered mine on Saturday and they still arn't showing up:confused:

I faxed the order to them on Monday afternoon from my office, but I received a voice mail after I had left for the day that they could not read my credit card information. So, I re-faxed (if that is a word) early Tuesday morning and talked to them Tuesday afternoon to make sure they had it. They assured me they did. I used my debit card and checked my account on Wednesday and saw that the charge had been deducted from my account. Even though I never did get an email confirmation, the OBC showed up this morning though so I'm good to go.

Can you check the account/credit card that you used to see if they have run the charge through? I would give them to Monday and if it is not there by then, I would call.

The fun ship dollars that I purchased on the 19th still have not been applied to my acct. They ran my card and I received confirmation emails. I called and they told me that since my cruise is not until October that it will take longer than the usual 24-48 hours. I want to purchase some every 2 weeks but I think I'm gonna wait to make sure these show up before I buy more.

  • 2 months later...
Pay no attention to the wording on the certificate.

I have used them multiple times for casino, tips, ssteakhouse==gratuity there too. I NEVER mailed them in==take them to the pursers desk.

If we do not use it all--I get a check the last night which you can cash at the pursers desk for free.

They can not be used to purchase a Future Cruise Certificate

I am thinking of having them sent to me, but was wondering if i just call and have them applied as OBC and for some reason we had to cancel our cruise, would they be returned to us ??

We were gifted a photo voucher, we ended up buying 2 photos that were only so-so, so that we would not waste the voucher, but we had to spend some out of pocket because of the size that they printed that photo... (Smaller photos are less expensive...)

The drink vouchers (& soda vouchers) were a PIA, you had to remember to bring them with you to dinner, etc.

if you have a camera case-- you leave the vouchers in the case-

or use a lanyard holder for your sign and sail card and put the vouchers in there.

Any drink, soda or photo coupons that you don’t use can be used on your next cruise. Photo coupons can only be used one at a time. Some you may make two purchases instead of putting together one big purchase. Fun ship dollars can be used for anything on the ship and you get a refund of unused amounts if any. You can have fun ship dollars applied directly to your booking when you purchase them on line so you don’t have to wait for the mail.

If you have two coupons-- you can spend 30.00 or more and use both coupons- if you spend less you do not get money back.

This was for us in February. if you get a person that says you can only use one-- go to the other person.
