Fire31 Posted March 16, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2011 We are on Princess Transatlantic. We have purchased American Travelers cheques. Have recently found they are difficult to cash. So we are looking at a US credit card. Others who have travelled this route, pls can we have your input? Rosemary
SadmanCruiser Posted March 16, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2011 Have you considered a currency card. We use travelex. Load the card from our bank account to Dollars on the card. Accepted everywhere and treated like a credit card. We load £300 at a time and you also receive a spare card if you loose the first one. Easy to cancel if lost. Means I can leave my credit cards at home and do not carry a lot of cash. Used it extensively on our recent trip to Hawaii and found it to be a better way than travellor cheques. soccerref Posted March 16, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2011 We have travelled extensively in the US and never had any problems with $ travellers cheques. We use them like cash in shops, restaurants and hotels and get change in $.
Fire31 Posted March 16, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted March 16, 2011 Thanks for the replies. We are from Canada coming to Britian then travelling west. We understand using American Travellers cheques in the Us and Carribean, never a problem. So very surprised that European counties are hesitant.
