beebee Posted March 17, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2011 I just checked with Azamara cruise lines and the price they are charging for their transfer from the airport to the pier is$224. per person which I thought was outrageous. Does anyone know if a private taxi company would be cheaper. Also, is there any type of shuttle from the airport to the pier. I need help! For that price, I would imagine I might even be able to hire a guide who could take us from the airport to the pier and even proivide a short tour as we went. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
epixx Posted March 17, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2011 If you're not travelling on Saturday, you can take the train (http://www.rail.co.il/EN/Pages/HomePage.aspx) or sherut to Haifa. You might need to take a taxi from there to port.

At the station there is an elevator to the cruise ship terminal. The cost is about 39 NIS per passenger. The time is between 1 1/4 to 1/ 3/4 hours. PS If you have to go by car for the price mentioned I'll drive the both of you and give you a tour on the way
OreetS Posted March 17, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2011 the fee you were quoted by Azmara allows for everyone involved to make a lovely profit off you. If you don't want to take the train, or if you are arriving on a Saturday when there is no train service, you have two other options. A Sherut (shared) taxi will take you from the airport to your exact location in Haifa for 88 NIS per person (about $25-27 each). A private taxi will cost about $130 on weekdays and $170 on Saturday or holidays. You could, as you noted, hire a private guide, but that would probably end up running what Azmara quoted - but at least you would have a tour on the way.
