Port Side??

This may be a stupid question but humour me please lol... How do you know what is port side when you are booking?

The side of the ship which is called Port side is on the left as you face the front of the ship (or looking at a deck plan)...starboard is on the right. However, you can't be sure that port side means you will face the ports when you dock...all depends on the dock and whick way the ship goes into it...;)

Port side cabins will be even numbered and starboard will be odd numbered :)

Yes it is, and also generally speaking when you tender the post side is facing the port, so if you have an balcony cabin you can watch all the drunks stagger back on the ship:D

Yes you are right. One way to remember - PORT is LEFT side of ship when facing front and all cabins are EVEN numbers. All have four letters.

and port side is only the side of the ship- being port side does NOT mean you will face the port-

Depends on the port- when you arrive, when youleave and how many ships are in port.

 

Sometimes you pull in - other times you will back in.

Maybe one port will dock port side--the next will be starboard.

 

Port side may have the view of another ship
