ddloml Posted March 22, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 22, 2011 Does anyone know if Carnival Elation has live poker dealers or automated tables? I saw and experimented with one automated table on the Carnival Elation last week. It's located near the cashier's cage.
Randomnist Posted May 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 8, 2011 What type of poker games are available? I'm sailing on the Elation in Sept, and would be interested especially in texas hold em if they have it. Anyone know?
Deckhawk Posted May 8, 2011 #4 Share Posted May 8, 2011 All CCL ships have automated texas hold'em tables. There are 1-2 and 2-5 games that are played depending on interest. Occasionally there will be a NL game if people request it.

BeachyBrowns Posted June 27, 2011 #7 Share Posted June 27, 2011 how are the games structured? are they true cash games, i.e. can i sit down, swipe my card for $50 in "chips" and play for as little as long as i want? Yes, they are true cash games; the interface is the only difference from a brick & mortar casino. You deposit money onto a special poker card that you get from the poker desk on the ship, and you swipe your card in the electronic poker table. So, for example, you put $200 on your card, and you sit down at the table, which requires a minimum buy-in of $100. You decide to buy in for $100, so you have $100 in chips to play with, and you can add more from your card (up to the table max) at any point after that. How long you can make that last depends on how you play; you might lose it all in 2 hands, or you might triple up and be on your way to a long night of poker. If you lose your first $100, you can rebuy with the remaining $100 you deposited on your card. If, instead, you buy in for $200 to begin with, you don't have any left on your card, and if you bust, you have to go reload the card to keep playing. Make sense?
