Tampa hotel near Busch Gardens

We are sailing out of Tampa - coming in 2 days early and want to go to Busch Gardens. We wanted to get a hotel walking distance from Busch Gardens and then just take a taxi from the airport to the hotel and then to the port. How far is the port from Busch Gardens? How far is the airport? Any decent hotels in walking distance (with 7 and 9 year old)? Thanks in advance for any help.

The airport to Busch Gardens is about 15 miles/25 minutes without too much traffic (add time for rush hours). Busch Gardens to the port is about 10 miles/20 minutes same times.

Check out the Tampa Visitors Bureau to get some info on the area. They have a hotel section to see whats in the area. You can look at Busch Gardens/North Tampa to see the area you are interested in. Many of the hotels have websites or emails so you can check around to see whats best for you. I dont know of too many hotels that are nicer and within walking distance (the traffic in the area is terrible), but many of the hotels in the area do have shuttle busses to Busch Gardens (and some even have them to the airport.) If you dont find anything in the area that suits your needs, you might try to find a suitable hotel elsewhere and rent a car instead. Or find a hotel near the port that might have shuttle to/from airport and port and then just cab it to Busch Gardens. Just another option for you.
