Trlbnd1 Posted March 30, 2005 #51 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Splendour of the Seas cruisers are in for a treat! Graham is a great CD, full of energy and seams to be everywhere. Look out for Hammy! We had Jeff Martin on Nav/Seas June 2003 and thought he was nothing to write about...
MKS Posted March 30, 2005 #52 Share Posted March 30, 2005 Does anyone know why Karen Maybury left Jewel of the Seas? She was the CD since the Maiden Voyage and was not due for a vacation until May 15. Also, any information on Jill Tasker, the replacement? Thanks. cruiser man Posted March 30, 2005 #53 Share Posted March 30, 2005 We were on the 3/6 sailing of the Adventure of the Seas and Richard was the CD. We have been on over a dozen cruises and he was, by far, the best CD we ever had. He was all over the place, was hilarious, fun, and quite personable. He really added to what was a great cruise. jodymacd Posted April 19, 2005 #63 Share Posted April 19, 2005 Ok, for all you Matt Baker fans.... I am just off the Enchantment (4/11 - 4/16) and he said that he will be on after the stretch when they do the Northeast route. (NJ to Canada I believe) and he will be on for a few months and then his brother will be replacing him. He didnt say exactly where he was going, but he did say that he was pursuing an acting career....I dont know if that meant he was not going to be a CD anymore, or if he was talking about "when he grows up." LOL!

windjamming Posted April 19, 2005 #65 Share Posted April 19, 2005 jodymacd - is Matt Baker Welsh? If so, his brother is likely Sim Baker, who was an ACD on the Radiance last year and was hilarious!
jrm9999 Posted April 20, 2005 #66 Share Posted April 20, 2005 Simeon is Matts brother. Last I heard he got a shot at filling in as CD for a few weeks (on Mariner I think). This was several month ago.
CocoaKen Posted April 20, 2005 #67 Share Posted April 20, 2005 My mom was just on the Legend of the seas 3-27-05 thru 4-10-05. The cruise director was Carly Boileau.
jemuu Posted April 20, 2005 #68 Share Posted April 20, 2005 I'm hoping all you experienced cruisers get a kick out of this. When I first stumbled on this thread, I couldn't figure out why someone would be tracking Compact Disks from one ship to another and why they would be moving in the first place. I read the first post or two and gave up trying to figure it out. It wasn't until I saw the acronym used on another thread that it clicked that CD was Cruise Director, not Compact Disk! Ok, yeah, I'm a dork. But hopefully, once I leave for my FIRST cruise next Sunday I'll be slightly more hip than this!! :)
Firefighterhoop Posted April 20, 2005 #69 Share Posted April 20, 2005 For everyone asking about James Andrews, According to Kirk Detwieler on the Mariner, James will be taking over for him on there this spring, and Kirk will be going to the Serenade after his vacation. Fiction Writers Posted April 20, 2005 #70 Share Posted April 20, 2005 You folks seem to know a lot about the CDs, so we are hoping you can help us. We are writing a fun book that takes place on a cruise, but we don't know a great deal about the details of working on board. So we would like to ask you all, what interesting details have you picked up from your talks with cruise employees? How often do they get time off? Do they have a gym on board? What are their living quarters like? Do the Cruise Director and Staff ever sleep? One of our main characters is a CD, so any everyday details you would know about their jobs and lives on board would be great. Thanks so much! World Traveler 81 Posted April 20, 2005 #71 Share Posted April 20, 2005 Kirk will be going to the Serenade after his vacation. Urgh, remind me to stay away from the Serenade. Kirk was one of the least impressive CDs that I have ever sailed with. No energy, very little humor, quite disappointing. Whoever is lucky enough to sail with Becky Thomson or Richard Spacey will most likely be quite impressed! I enjoyed them both immensly!

Rare GaryWT Posted May 4, 2005 #73 Share Posted May 4, 2005 My guess is that Ken Rush is the number one cruise director at RC. I only say this because he stated that he will move to the Freedom as its first cruise director and that will make him the first cruise directo on the last 7 ships that RC has put into service. We enjoyed our week with Ken.
akh40 Posted June 15, 2005 #74 Share Posted June 15, 2005 We just got off the Radiance on Saturday, June 11, and Matt Sole was the CD. We were expecting Gordon Whatman, but Matt was very good. I wasn't sure about him at the beginning of the cruise, but he really grew on us. He has a wonderful staff. Matt was a great singer, too, and really rocked the house after the Quest. Can't remember which old rock and roll song he sang, but he was great! Amanda:D
