Cave Tubing & ZipLining Prebook or bargain at the pier

I know that there are a half dozen highly rated operators discussed on this site or TripAdvisor for combo packages with cavetubing & ziplining in Belize. I typically try to bargain at the pier to arrange local "tours". Has anyone tried this in Belize for an "adventure tour"? Is is possible and is it safe? I prefer not to pay $100pp x6 for the family if I can negotiate a better price when I arrive but I also do not want to endanger the family by going with the "ow cost" operator. Any thougths?
