slammer248 Posted March 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2011 This sounds kind of like an word problem from grade school math... If we are going out of Miami on celebrity on April 2 and Docking in Cozumel on April 5 what will the time difference between the ship and the island be (if any)? Thanks in advance! 98Charlie Posted March 29, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2011 Depends on the ship and how they like to handle time changes. If they decide to change the ships time you will get a note in your cabin at turn down. It will also be in the daily. Regardless of what time you are in any port, always keep your watch on ships time! :p Charlie
chersolo Posted March 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 29, 2011 There will be a two hour time difference because they do their time change on April 13 and we've ready done ours. That's if you leave from Miami.
chersolo Posted March 29, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2011 *already But listen to Charlie! Always leave your watch on ship's time just to be safe!!
slammer248 Posted March 29, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted March 29, 2011 This actaully says they do DST on the 3rd http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=1235 So the ships always stay on the departing port's time? Thanks for the responses
chersolo Posted March 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2011 You are right! I don't know why I was thinking 13 instead of 3. So on your day Cozumel will only be one hour behind ships time. Not all cruise lines stay on ships time. Some actually change with the local time. Although I've never experienced that on a cruise. I would look at Celebrity's website and see if that info is in their FAQs.
98Charlie Posted March 30, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 30, 2011 So the ships always stay on the departing port's time? Thanks for the responses For the last several years it seems that the ships are just maintaining the originating port time for Caribbean cruises. I know that some years ago we would get a note on our pillow at night regarding time changes. On one Mexican Riviera cruise we had 4 changes on an 8 night cruise:rolleyes: The nice part was we got an hour back on the last night of the cruise - a 25 hour day:D Charlie
