Black sand beach closest to Volcanos Park?

If one is renting a car in Hilo to visit Volcanos National Park, are there any black sand beaches in reasonable proximity for a quick visit? Any suggestions?

Punaluu Beach Park is fairly close by. You basically continue on Highway 11 past Volcanoes National Park and Pahala--it's between Pahala and Naalehu. You should be able to find it on a map or get good directions from someone. I forget the name of the road you turn at, but the beach is next to Sea Mountain Golf Course.
