Rudest Casino Personnel ever

A word to the wise-

We're gamblers and have been to many casinos. The casino personnel at the Carnival Conquest, especially the pit employees were the rudest we had every seen. Everyone was commenting on their behavior. An example, we bought in for $500 each at a 7 person table, 3 people were playing. The pit boss stops the game and asks each of us to move to a chair directly behind our cards! What! It was a difference of perhaps 6 inches and we were gambling! The dealers went extremely fast, never cracked a smile, never interacted with the players, frankly didn't care at all. No wonder their tips are low. At the end of the cruise, the machine Texas Holdem was full, and again it was the shared opinion that it was full to avoid the personnel at the tables. I'll never spend another dime at this casino company.

I don't gamble but on our Conquest cruise we had a friend with us who had some real issues with the rude attendant. This was a young man who just turned 21, and didn't know how to do something on the machine, and had won a small jackpot. I wish I knew what it was but I heard the story later. Anyway the guy was very rude to him and actually raised his voice and interrupted when our friend tried to talk to him. He must have been pretty abusive to upset this particular kid because he is very nice and easygoing. The rest of the cruise we heard how mean this guy was!

Thats really sad. Luckily I have only had the best experiences with the cruise casino staff. They would speak when you went by on the promenade. Alwas a quick smile and hello. Up or down, they were great. Pit bosses were a hoot. Sorry you had a problem. Did you contact your host while onboard to complain?

I 2nd your experience. I've never had anything but friendly, helpful service. I've been on the Conquest 6 times.

They do get very picky about their rules on board. Especially playing the spot on the table belonging to your chair. I guess this is so there is no confusion should someone come to the table.

The rudest thing that stopped me from playing craps on board was when they tried to rip us off. One of the dice was leaning on a chip after a toss. The industry standard to determine the roll is what would happen if you take the chip away. Instead, the box decided the opposite. He insisted the roll should be called as if the die was pushed over by the chip. The difference was that roll resulted in a 7. There was quite a bit of yelling before he relented and made it a "no roll" instead. I cashed out.

I guess I don't understand, maybe because I am not a gambler, but why would you not be sitting on a chair behind your cards?? It doesn't sound rude to me to request this? Maybe he was concerned about cheating or looking at each others cards, etc.? Or maybe you were blocking others who wanted to (or potentially wanted to) start to play.

I guess I am not sure why this would ruin things for you??

I try not to ever complain when I go somewhere (like restaurants cooking my food wrong) however the one time I did have a bad experience on a Carnival ship they were very quick to acknowledge the problem and correct it. I even got a letter (actually 2, one on the ship and one mailed to my house) apologizing) I was positive and polite, just informative :)

So my question to you is, did you address the problem while on the ship??? If yes, then it's a Management problem that should be addressed, (comment card / email) if not you really can't complain. Either way I don't think you should fault all Carnival Casinos because of one bad experience....

Just my opinion:o

Carnival tables have more spaces than any land based casino I have seen. If you don't count the spaces and the matching empty chairs you could easily play the wrong spot. It makes no difference to the casino really, unless all the chairs are filled. Cards in blackjack are face up for the players so everyone sees the cards in a shoe game like that. You're playing against the house, not the other players.

One of the pit boss's on the Dream really gave me the creeps last year. It was a black guy real dark, and shaved head, and big watery glassy eyes. I was in there frequently, and he gave me bad vibes, and lots of loss's.

I've played Blackjack on all 25 of my cruises and have never had a problem with a dealer or a pit boss.

I've seen an awful lot of obnoxious players, though, and have wondered at the will power of the casino staff in being able to resist going off on some of the jerks. :)

On a new topic, does this picture look strange? there are no Q's in any of the decks or suits. I don't play blackjack very often, is this normal?

They do have a specialty blackjack game in which there are no Queens. The odds for the house are increased in this type of game. I don't remember what it's called... "Fun 21" maybe?

I can understand being turned off by a bad attitude. However, are you suggesting that he purposely dealt you losses because of his attitude problems? I doubt that.

No its not normal for BlackJack, but this game is called "Fun 21" the queens are removed. They let you do other things that are not allowed in Blackjack that make you think its better for you... but when they pull four "tens" from each deck, it swings the advantage more to the house than what the other rules give tot he player....

I'm guessing he was talking about the bad vibes. I had one pit boss at the 3-card poker table at my AI that every time he would come over I would win big that hand. I got so I wouldn't play when he wasn't on duty even though I know he really had nothing to do with my winning or losing :)

By the way does Carnival have 3 card poker on board?

No at this point what with half our thread being deleted and being personally attacked all day I was trying to stay away from you actually.

But now I see that it seems to be some sort of "initiation rite" for new posters to Carnival or something. Either that or its a particularly bad week. Jeez I have seen 2 threads disappear while in the middle of reading both.

Guess I should add can we just agree to disagree and move on and quit being snarky...I really have had enough and I would appreciate a fresh start.

Only been on one Carnival...

I have been on many NCL cruises...NCL Dealers are the Worst...

NCL openly makes fun of the players...

They encourage newbies to split pairs...

They encouage newbies to double when they should not...

They make a "kissing" sound or a "smooching" sound to the Pit Boss

to get their attention before encouraging the newbie to make a stupid bet...then they all laugh...

I tip well as I play...Always putting a chip down for the Dealer every few hands...

In AC or Vegas those tips will get you some slack if you are about to do something stupid...

Not on NCL...

You are signing for a drink - your cards are up...you are distracted...you have a 20...dealer asks if you want a hit...you look at the dealer cards and see a 6...sure...you break...dealer does "the Smooch" sound to the Pit Boss and they have a good chuckle...

AC/Vegas - Same Set UP - "Sir, are you sure you want to hit that"?

NO!!! - Thanks!!!...$5 Bet for the Dealer on the next hand...

Now see here is a perfect example of very different perceptions ... I have never had an issue with NCL dealers or pit bosses and I found the atmosphere completely different then you did. I always found the dealers on NCL polite and helpful.

I'm going to have to assume that since you were playing such a large hand (most I've seen played is $100 on a cruise) of $500, this is why they wanted you directly behind your bet.

General rudeness however is another issue. I've come across a couple less than friendly dealers; but 98% have been quite fun, even when I wasn't winning ;)
