OFFICIAL! We're going to Alaska! 7/24/12 on the Carnival Spirit

Recommended Posts

The pricing link doesn't mention a reduced deposit ? Also it says that the final payment is due April 2011, I assume that is an error?

Congratulations on getting it official ! Exciting !

Haha, I'm pretty sure that's an error. I sure hope so, anyway! ;). I'll send Laura an email and get it fixed.

The link doesn't mention the reduced deposit, but I do have an email from Laura stating we do have the $25/pp deposit for 30 days. I'll find out when the reaming deposit would be due for those that take advantage of it. And with the Alaska deposit being $350/pp, it's a great way to get this cruise boomed without having to fork over a mortgage payment!

I have a question... If you pay the $25 deposit then do you have to pay the full deposit within the 30days ? I assume the $25 is just so you have 30days to prepare for the deposit ?

Thank you

I've got an email out to Laura finding out when the full deposit would be due. I'll post here as soon as I hear something!

Sent an email to Johna to ask about the ES rate. Pretty sure Cherie and I will be booking some sort of rate though!

We booked ES for our VS. Don't get the onboard credit, but that's fine by me since ES us saving us almost $600! Of course, that'll pay for, what, 1 excursion for the 3 of us? :o

Any new recruits this week?

I would really like to, but without a roomie I'm looking at $1665 for a 1-A single and $1798 for the cheapest 4-A. Add about $400 for airfare from Charlotte and it's up over $2,000 at the cheapest..... and that's using Early Saver with a non-refundable deposit and no OBC The group rates would be $1865 for a 1-A and $2065 for a 4-A with a $50 OBC.

That's about double my usual cruising-as-a-single budget. I really don't know at this point what I'm going to do. SFS

Sorry I didn't get to check in yesterday. Got a new laptop at work - YAY! - but spent my entire day reinstalling everything.

I am still waiting to get approval for my vacation time for then. But what is the advantage of booking through here if you do not get a better deal than through Carnival?

You can book ES through the group, though you won't get the OBC. If you can get a cheaper overall rate, factoring in the OBC, elsewhere, honestly I'm not sure what the advantage is. Have you found a cheaper rate? If you have, let me know, as I can have Johna look into it - I have been on group cruises before where the rates dropped, so it's possible.

Any word of the deposit rules yet

Not yet, I'll follow up on that right now.

I just booked through Carnival with my PVP, 8D cat at the early saver rate of $1586.38 which includes all taxes, etc, per person. Plus we will get the $100.00 credit on the cruise from the certificate we bought on the last cruise, plus $100.00 on board credit. He also thought we were getting a letter in the mail from the casino for some other credit.

We are excited to going back to Alaska, we were there in July 2007! :)

Oooooh, I forgot about the FCCs! I have 3 of them. Definitely using one of those for this trip!
