Smoking Onboard

Something I haven't thought of. Is smoking aloud in the cabins? I don't want to sleep in a cabin that smells like smoke. Has anyone had a problem with this? We are first time cruisers so not sure what to expect. :)

With the exception of the Spa Cabins smoking is allowed in the cabins. I have never smelled smoke in any of my cabins. Others, on occasion, have smelled smoke, reported it to the cabin steward and it was taken care of quickly...

Yes, smoking is allowed in all cabins except the Cloud 9 Spa cabins on Splendor, Dream and Magic.

With very few exceptions, even non-smokers have reported no smoke smell. If there is, just tell your steward and he/she will fix it for you.

Yes. smoking is allowed in the cabins and on the balconies except for the Cloud 9 Spa cabins on the Dream, Splendor and Magic.

In our 40+ cruises, we have only had an issue a few times.

But when IF you walk into a cabin (like a hotel room) that you can tell has been smoked in...you have some recourse.

The Cabin Steward can run the ozone machine for an hour (you can not be in the cabin)

The Cabin Steward can completely replace all the "soft" items...pillows, sheets, duvet covers, towels etc (even the mattress IF it is that severe).

They can also lightly shampoo the carpets which dries quickly.

You probably are not going to have an issue, but since that is not 100%, I want you to know that there are things Carnival can do to fix it.

And if you are in a connecting cabin (you can look it up on Carnivals web site) make sure you bring duct tape, if they smoke and you can smell it, duct tape up around the door frame.

I've never had a problem with smoke smells in our rooms, but when you go past the casino you will smell smoke, when you go past the cigar bar you will smell smoke, so just expect that.

Cheers and have fun, Carole

With very few exceptions, even non-smokers have reported no smoke smell.

My DB and SIL have cruised with us every year since 2006. We smoke. They do not. My SIL did not know until our cruise in February that smoking was allowed in the cabins. Believe me, if there was smoke to be smelled she would have smelled it!

To the OP, as stated previously if you feel you smell smoke in your cabin notify your cabin steward and they will take care of it.

Cruiselines seem to be the latest in changing to no smoking. So far Celebrity, Azmara, and Oceania are the ones leading in very limited smoking indoor just one or two small areas. RCI limits to no smoking in cabins but does allow on balconies. NCL seems to limit smoking in the indoor public areas like lounges. Each line has a slightly different policy.

I took some first time cruisers on the Conquest and when I told them that smoking was allowed in cabins they said "well there cabin had not been smoked in cuz the wife would have been able to tell if it had been~!" I just laughed and said all cabins (except spa on those few ships) are smoking~I still think they think I was lying~! lol~~

I'm not positive but I thought NcL doesn't allow smoking in cabins. I wouldn't ever smoke in it even if they did...It's bad enough that I stink when I smoke I sure don't want my cabin to smell like it. I was absolutely shocked when I heard Carnival allows smoking in lounges. On NCL it's cigar bar and casino only

As others have mentioned, smoking is allowed in the cabins. However, we've never had any issues concerning cigarrette smell in our cabin (we've been on Carnival 12 times).

With that said, we've had issues with cigarrette smell in other parts of the ship, most noticeably along the promenade deck where the casino, night club, and other cigarrette friendly venues are located. You just can't contain cigarrette smell in these sections the way that Carnival ships are designed. We've also smelled cigarrettes walking down hallways to our cabin if someone is having a smoke-a-thon in their cabins. Finally, once in a while, you may encounter someone on designated NON-smoking outdoor areas lighting up a cigarrette claiming that they didn't know.

In these times where smoking has become more and more restricted around the world, even in countries that used to be "smoker friendly", it surprises me that Carnival still allows smoking in their cabins, even if they claim that they can sanitize them completely between sailings.

Yes smoking is allowed in all rooms except on the spa deck. You can ask the Room Steward for an Ash Try if he forgot to leave one in the room. Also really neat Carnival Logo Ash Trays are available for sale in the Gift Shop. And Good News Too, Cigarettes are duty free and are a great deal on board!
