Check-in at Ft Lauderdale Hilton Marina

When I stayed at the Hilton Marina last November, the hotel was swamped and checkin was delayed until late in the afternoon. People were camped out in the pool area and throughout the lobby. I surmised this was a result of having the Oasis in port for sailing the next day. The hotel would not comment, except to say that they were working to get the rooms cleaned. This was a new experience for me, having stayed many times and having a reasonable afternoon checkin, often around noon. Now that the Allure is sailing out of FLL are the Hilton and other nearby hotels overwhelmed with bookings? I'm just wondering if anyone has a recent experience with this hotel. It doesn't make much sense to get an early flight and then spend it hanging out and waiting for a room. Not to mention paying outrageous for lunch at the pool bar. Thanks for any insight.
