sail7seas Posted April 9, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2011 I tried the Ports of Call Board and couldn't find much of interest. Anyone know of some good shopping in Freeport? Any nice stores with something better than the usual t-shirts and trinkets? Thanks if you can help.
mariner Posted April 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2011 Freeport isn't Nassau by any stretch. The main shopping is the International Bazarre. Think of it as a flea market.
Oceanwench Posted April 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2011 We ended up in Freeport when one of our ports was canceled due to bad weather. As I recall, we had to take a taxi to the shopping area. We didn't find anything interesting and went back to the ship after about an hour.
sail7seas Posted April 10, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks. I thought there might be some decent shopping in the area of better hotels.
alcpa1 Posted April 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2011 The shopping is a little better at Port Lucaya than the Internatinal Bazaar. The International Bazaar was really great in a fun funky sort of way forty years ago but never really had upscale shopping like Nassau had. Things haven't improved much lately either. m steve Posted April 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2011 isn't much unless you are going to the beaches or diving. The shops prices are pretty much price fixed and the same at either shopping area. And no real bargains. Remember this is a private island run by the casino company and leased from the Bahama government.
