Italy52 Posted April 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2011 I don't see the kind of champagne that we like listed (Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin -BRUT). If we were to bring our own bottle, does anyone know what the corkage fee would be? Many thanks for your help. Karen
Booyakasha Posted April 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2011 Corkage is $20 or $25. If you drink the Ponsardin and like it there are a few Champagnes you would be happy with off the list and avoid the corkage. B.

Karen Chances are they will have this wine, it has been available on every Celebrity cruise that I've looked for it at. On our Eclipse Cruise it was not on the main dining room wine list but was on the Murano's wine list and therefore it could be ordered in the MDR and elsewhere on the ship. It was also on the wine list on the Constellation cruise we finished yesterday.

Lsimon Posted April 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 10, 2011 Thanks for your post. We will be in the Olympic on the Millennium celebrating our 30th anniversary and are hoping to have the champagne. Karen FYI: Cost on the Constellation (prices have been very consistent between ships) was $98. Simarly priced Champagnes were: Roederer Brut Premier - $95 Tattinger La Francaise - $88 They also has some other Champagnes on the wine list at other bars and restuarants which I didn't save the price list for. rotaryscotty Posted April 11, 2011 #10 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Which ones would those be? Any suggestions? Karen As a person who has taught wine classes for 20 years I can recommend both wonderful sparklings from California: Domaine Carneros and Domaine Chandon. I've attended a private dinner and tasting at Chandon and a private tasting at Domaine Carneros just north of the Golden Gate. Both of the sparklings provide great quality for value. You will not go wrong with either one. There are so many overpriced wines in the Sparkling category, and tack on the restaurant/cruise ship markup I find them to the point of being unreasonable. And don't make the mistake of assuming that because a Champagne comes from the Champagne region of France that it must be of high quality. If you only want a sweeter style sparkling (many people do not care for the classic dry Brut) you can be safe with M&R Asti. Lots of carbonation, lots of sweetness. And I certainly wouldn't spend more money for this category. And always remember that the best wine is the wine you like BEST!

Live in CA and have been to the Domaine Chandon facility --- in fact, this is the first sparkling wine we liked. However, over time, we began to like the VC Champagne. Perhaps we might try DC again or give Domaine Carneros a try. Thanks for the recommendations. As for M&R Asti, too sweet for us. And yes, I agree, "...the best wine is the wine you like BEST!" If you don't mind paying that much for a bottle of wine, then why are your worried about the corkage fee? Me thinks that you are just checking the wine catalog price lists. Great job...thanks for posting the extensive list. We are cruising on Solstice, June 19 out of BCN. Do you know if the Solstice list is the same or similar...does anyone have a copy?? On another note, it does not appear that many of the wines would be available by the glass in regards to the $12 cap if purchasing the Premium Package. Thanks in advance... Italy52 Posted April 12, 2011 #16 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Question. If you don't mind paying that much for a bottle of wine, then why are your worried about the corkage fee? Me thinks that you are just checking the wine catalog price lists. I NEVER said I was worried about the corkage fee. Although I am not new to cruising, I am new to Celebrity and was just curious what the corkage fee is --- some cruise lines charge different fees than others. "Me thinks that you are just checking the wine catalog price lists." Not true either, I just asked if the ship carried a particular champagne. I think you are reading something more into the question than what I asked. Karen

The S class lists are very similar but a little different from the rest of the fleet - I have copies of the lists from an Eclipse trip a month ago. Here are the links: Wine List - Main Dining Room – Celebrity Eclipse February 2011 The above wine list is missing a page of red wines, see following two lists which duplicate many of the wines on the list Wine List – Murano – Celebrity Eclipse February 2011 The “Rare Wines” section of this menu is not shown here but was identical to that section of the Tuscan Grill Wine List below Wine List – Tuscan Grill – Celebrity Eclipse February 2011

808cruise Posted April 13, 2011 #19 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks again for the wine lists you posted...I'm concerned about the selection of wines by the glass up to the $12 price point...there aren't many...the reason is I'm contemplating the Premium Package and was expecting a greater selection.... At this point it doesn't look to enticing. I know wine is just a part of the package which includes spirits, beer, non alcs, coffees... I need more info. aloha & mahalo
Lsimon Posted April 13, 2011 #20 Share Posted April 13, 2011 Thanks again for the wine lists you posted...I'm concerned about the selection of wines by the glass up to the $12 price point...there aren't many...the reason is I'm contemplating the Premium Package and was expecting a greater selection....At this point it doesn't look to enticing. I know wine is just a part of the package which includes spirits, beer, non alcs, coffees... I need more info. aloha & mahalo The fact is that while they have an OK selection of wines by the glass it pales in comparison to their wines by the bottle selection. This is one of several reasons why the package doesn't appeal to us. We like to order wine by the bottle and go through a pretty varied selection of wines during the cruise. If anyone is unsure if the package is right for them I'd encourage them to wait until they are on board a day or two and then decide. You can always purchase the package on board at a price that is pro-rated for the remaining nights of the cruise.
BEAV Posted April 13, 2012 #21 Share Posted April 13, 2012 Has anyone tried the 2004 Celebrity Cellarmasters California Cabernet that sells for $40 via the gift catalog? If so, what were your impressions of the wine? Thanks!
