PurleyKing Posted April 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2011 We're booked on Star Flyer in Costa Rica in January 2012. We were going to fly with First Choice but they have ceased that route and we can't find an alternative direct flight. Has anyone good experience of another route / alternative airline. Thanks for any help you can offer.

mike x ftc Posted April 12, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Hi, We did Costa Rica on the Star Flyer in November last year - good choice!! We flew with Continental airways Fron Heathrow via Newark on the way out and via Houston on the way back. To be honest we were dreading the flights / transfers etc but we were really surprised how well it all went and how easy it was. Continental were excellent, the on board entertainment was excellent. We had a couple of hours in Newark but it gave us time to have a stretch and something to eat, then an evening flight down to Costa Rica. On the way back it was a tight transfer but we just wanted to be home so there was no hanging around. Hope that helps. Mike
Cunard Liverpool Posted April 21, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 21, 2011 The Continental via Newark mentioned above was in November. January there is a greater risk of flights transiting the North East and Central US being disrupted by bad weather. One cruise we were on, the New York people missed the departure port and embarked two ports in to the cruise.
apuleius Posted April 23, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2011 We are also going on the Star Flyer In January 2012 to Costa Rica, and mindful of bad weather issues are flying to Miami from LHR and from there taking an AA flight (four times a day) to SJO. PurleyKing Posted April 29, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted April 29, 2011 Thanks everyone for your ideas and advice. We're on the 8th and 15th January sailings so perhaps may bump into 'apuleius' then.
