Hookipa--only good for viewing?

I was thinking it might be fun to visit this beach which is known for windsurfing, but I want to actually spend the day sunning and swimming. Does anyone know if this is a good beach for swimming?

It's a great place to visit and watch the windsurfers, but every time we've gone there, only the windsurfers dared to enter the water. The waves are huge and it's rocky but it's a beautiful place!

We went there during our cruise last week--it is a beautiful spot and the windsurfers are fun to watch, like a flock of butterflies!--I sat under a tree with binoculars for a good half hour and was fascinated . . . but no, not a good place for "normal" people to go in the water. We also had lunch at Mama's Fish House, just before Hookipa and also right on the beach--one of our best meals the whole week!
