mpk218 Posted November 10, 2011 #26 Share Posted November 10, 2011 Good grief. I can't believe Americans (and I am one) are still so puritanical. Here is my take on this: If you don't like clothing optional, by all means keep your clothes on and stay on the clothed area which covers 99.99999% of the ship. If you don't like gambling, by all means don't gamble. If you don't like alcohol, by all means don't drink. If you don't like gay marriage, by all means feel free not to marry a gay person. Etc etc etc..... Frankly I'd rather be next to a naked person than one who is blowing smoke in my face! Have a great cruise everyone and as long as others are not hurting you, let them have a great cruise as well!! LOL :) Thats all well and good But , what if I have to sit next to a Gay naked man sitting in the casino with a drink smoking a cigaret while complaining about the Buffet. Then what ?

rvsullivan Posted November 10, 2011 #28 Share Posted November 10, 2011 Quite honestly, I don't think the end of clothing optional was because folks were offended by naked people. I think the naked people were offended by the folks that came up to look! Anytime I've been around these situations, the clothing optional folks objected to others looking. It's going to happen. Comes with the territory. Either way, it's over now.

TOP DECK Posted November 12, 2011 #30 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Looking at pictures the chairs are fairly close together. If there is an open one on the end of the row do I craw across the others to get to the open chair.
SAEMike Posted November 12, 2011 #31 Share Posted November 12, 2011 Looking at pictures the chairs are fairly close together. If there is an open one on the end of the row do I craw across the others to get to the open chair. No there is an ope walkspace down the center of the two rows. And while the chairs look like they are right on top of each other, there is room to spread them out a bit, so you're not getting uncomfortably close to your neighbor. nudistcruzer Posted December 17, 2011 #32 Share Posted December 17, 2011 I was on the Epic October 16-23 in the western Med and made it a point to find out where this deck was. My first day up there, there was a crew member collecting drink glasses and I asked him point-blank if the deck was clothing-optional and he confirmed that indeed it was. It's a small area, with only 16 lounge chairs. During my cruise, the few times I was able to get up there, the most people that were up there were 8. It was obvious that many people aren't aware of what "freestyle sundeck" means as was evidenced by the startled looks followed by repeated back glances over the shoulder as they left the deck. But no one up there seemed to care. The few times I was up there, there was a mix of people, clothed, topless, and nude. Maybe it was because it was a European cruise, but no one cared about what state of dress or undress someone else was in. If you're interested in nude sunbathing, know that there definitely is a place for you to indulge other than just on your stateroom balcony. Buono Viaggio!! I doubt it will be the same when the ship is in the Caribbean, but we will see. I was told by NCL the Freestyle Sundeck, at least on the Pearl, is not CO. Regardless of the rules, if the deck is full of nude people, I can be found there daily(except the 14th and 21st) for 14 days starting on 2/11/12. Good morning Mark, The Group Services Coordinator has done her research and the feedback that I received is that the deck you are referring to is a sunbathing area onboard. And the name "Freestyle Deck" is simply the name of the deck. There is no sign anywhere on this deck that suggests that "clothing are optional". Maybe in the past it was, but that is no longer the case. Thank you, Maybelin Gutierrez| Group Event Coord. sdmike Posted December 17, 2011 #33 Share Posted December 17, 2011 Well, Maybelin isn't 100% correct. I believe there WAS a sign on the Epic. Also, there are no deck "names" on Epic. Just numbers. This deck is called Freestyle because that's what they call the CO/Topless deck, otherwise it would be given a number like the rest (in my opinion)
CTcouple Posted December 19, 2011 #34 Share Posted December 19, 2011 We just got back today from the Gem. we went in July as well. Both times we lived on the "Freestyle Deck" we were naked every nice day of weather. We got Bar service up there. and others were either topless, a few nudes, and alot of people pretending to be lost up there. There is a camera up there for security purposes, so They do know what goes on up there. They wont promote anything, and it just says on the sign, Freestyle deck, adults only. nothing more. many people did quick about faces and left whom werent accustome to it. some men kept coming back every hour. pretending to take pictures of the deck below and seas. lots of kids with their parents too, and one even snared at us, I said the sign below says Adults only. Hope this helps
jfrog Posted January 21, 2012 #35 Share Posted January 21, 2012 on the Jewel in Oct 2010 it was clothing optional and with no problems, except a few gawkers. It was a nice group of people, and they didn't care clothed or nude.
maledicta Posted January 22, 2012 #36 Share Posted January 22, 2012 The Freestyle Deck on the Jewel (Eastern Caribbean) was definitely clothing optional in May 2011 when my elderly mother, the Church Lady, stumbled upon it while exploring the ship. It took her a couple of margaritas to regain her composure.:D
ictcruiser Posted January 22, 2012 #37 Share Posted January 22, 2012 On the 1/8 sailing of the Star there was a late night show in the Spinnaker lounge called the "Ship - N - Male" dancers (started at midnight). There were 5 acts of men from the ship--butler, chef, fireman, engineer, and one of the dancers from the production cast. Each stripped down to his boxers/briefs, one flashed his tush, and all did "lapdances" for the females in the audience. The lapdances were very tame. The show was hilarious.
