10X Posted June 9, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2004 Pinel Island is a small island in the bay out from Orient Beach. It's has a nice beach and shallow water. Fair snorkeling is available on the left end of the beach are as you face the water. There is a snack shop, umbrellas, etc. The island is French so you could experience some nudity, but this is probbaly rare. Residents who go there seek out secluded parts of the island, leaving the beach area to the cruisers. The cruisers seem less likely to display nudity. I have one picture of the beach that I can e-mail you if you'll send your e-mail address to: shoot3gun@yahoo.com '89 Commodore/Caribe I '92 NCL/Westward '96 NCL/Seaward '99 RCI/Rhapsody Of The Seas '00 RCI/Legend Of The Seas '01 Princess/Ocean Princess '02 RCI/Vision Of The Seas '03 Princess/Sea Princess, back-to-back '03 Princess/Sea Princess '04 Hawaii, 2 weeks on land TAHITIAN PRINCESS 02/11/
robertmartha Posted June 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted June 10, 2004 10X What is the beach like? Sandy, rocky? Have only Megans Bay to compare to....thanks!
10X Posted June 12, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2004 The beach is mostly shallow and sandy. However, as you get closer to the snorkeling area more rocks begin to appear. The rocks are not a problem to swim around or over. I can alos e-mail you the photo of the beach, if you like. Snorkelcat Posted June 14, 2004 #6 Share Posted June 14, 2004 10x, Did you take the taxi over to the island or did you go with an outfitter? I am trying to decide on whether to go over there or go with an outfitter to some reef out in the sea. Thanks for you input. 10X Posted June 14, 2004 #7 Share Posted June 14, 2004 We took a cab to the cul-de-sac where the water taxi takes you to the island. We then made arrangements with him to pick us up at a specified time. He was there as requested. We did everything on our own.
