Heather1321 Posted April 16, 2011 #26 Share Posted April 16, 2011 Love the Movies Under the Stars screens, hate the ships they are on. (Conquest and Dream class) Would love for Carnival to move them to the Fantasy and Spirit class ships and let the poolside complainers have the bigger boats. Bill I would agree…I don't need them on all day, but for my kids and limited activities at nighttime for them, it is great to have the big screen for those purposes. hi2you Posted April 16, 2011 #27 Share Posted April 16, 2011 I love the outdoor screen. I experienced it on Liberty and next month on Victory. In the mornings there is the news then other things throughout the day. At night, it is great to watch a movie under the stars. I remember the drive-in experience when I was a child-fun. I watched a Jim Carey comedy last year on the big screen, and started watching Harry Potter but was falling asleep. Harry Potter was on the last night, and it was nice to have there, because we had to get back to port quick for a medical emergency, so the casino and some other venues had to be closed earlier than normal. NJoyCruise Posted April 16, 2011 #28 Share Posted April 16, 2011 The Pride and Glory had it when we sailed last year and we loved it. We even watched a movie there one night...it was a cold night so you saw people on the comfy seats covered with their beach towels.
Bandman Posted April 16, 2011 #29 Share Posted April 16, 2011 Hated it on the Victory. Booked a suite and could hear the sound blaring from the Big Screen on our balcony late into the evening. Boo.
Rosefloater Posted April 16, 2011 #30 Share Posted April 16, 2011 i like the idea of it. I liked being able to sit in a lounge chair and watch a movie. But the sound system (at least on the Splendor) was terrible! It was staticky and kept dropping words. I heard about 3/4 of the movies. And what's worse, they were charging for the popcorn!! b714210 Posted April 16, 2011 #31 Share Posted April 16, 2011 Loved it! Was on the Triumph in August and spent my mornings in a bathing suit, drinking mimosas in the sun and watching the news. Sure beats watching at home, racing to make lunches, fold laundry, etc. before work. I think I will miss it on the Fantasy this July.
windjammerB&C Posted April 16, 2011 #32 Share Posted April 16, 2011 We love it. As long as they movies. Sometimes they just have a bunch of crap playing.
JennLuvs2Cruise Posted April 16, 2011 #33 Share Posted April 16, 2011 I was on the Dream last year in June & they played a lot of games from the World Cup in the morning & afternoon. Then it would be music, concerts, news, football, movies & screen savers. I thought the jumbotron was a nice touch, I enjoyed it! Most of the movies are played at night, but there was a few afternoon movies being shown.
golfadj Posted April 17, 2011 #34 Share Posted April 17, 2011 Watched a world series game on it once. Better things to do in the evening than watch a movie.
Time2CruiseAgain Posted April 17, 2011 #35 Share Posted April 17, 2011 We really like the Seaside Theater! We don't pay a lot of attention during the day - but love the movies under the stars! We will miss it on the Legend.
williamson_ja Posted April 17, 2011 #36 Share Posted April 17, 2011 I like the idea, but wish they showed more movies in the afternoon. I would love to sit and watch a movie in the afternoon. There's a lot to do at night, so can't imagine making it there too frequently.
DocF Posted April 17, 2011 #37 Share Posted April 17, 2011 I know that the big screens are popular. But then, some folks sit in their cabin and watch television too. There are way too many things to do and too much wandering about to wander through to waste time vegetating watching a huge television screen. PictureChris Posted April 17, 2011 #38 Share Posted April 17, 2011 For Evening movies or Sporting events I love the big screen. As a way to cut out live music, with WAY TO LOUD prerecorded music/concerts, I don't like it. For playing CNN while I am on vacation I hate it!!!! I mean I walk up in the morning and there are images of people being shot in uprisings overseas. Really Carnival, what makes you think news belongs anywhere other than on a cabin tv? blondietink Posted April 17, 2011 #41 Share Posted April 17, 2011 We were on the Triumph and thought the big screen on the Lido was way too loud and distracting. We avoided it and went aft to the pool there. The movies at night seemed to be Ok sound wise. But as a person who is loosing her hearing, I really cannot tolerate things that loud anymore, as I can't hear anybody talk or carry on a conversation when loud music/shows/games are broadcast. pebbledot Posted April 17, 2011 #43 Share Posted April 17, 2011 We enjoyed watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs a couple of years ago on the big screen. Also they had NBA playoffs running during one cruise. I also liked how on the last cruise we were on, they televised the debarkation briefing. The one they had us go to the auditorium to listen to on prior ships. I'd rather spend my last morning at sea in the pool listening to that, as opposed to giving up that pool time to go to the auditorium to listen to it. donaldsc Posted April 17, 2011 #44 Share Posted April 17, 2011 Just wondering, have not sailed on a ship with an outdoor movie screen. Do they just show movies at night? I like the the pool sceen on lido with music.... I have read reviews where they said they played the basketball tournament ect. so just wondering if it is going all day or just at night. Thanks for any info.... I hate them. I do not do movies on land, I can also walk away from them on land by not going to movie theaters. I do not see what I should be subjected to bad movies or bad concerts on a ship where I can not walk away. If you want to see movies on a ship, let them show them on the TVs in the cabins. mountain06 Posted April 17, 2011 #46 Share Posted April 17, 2011 I like the big screens, at night when you watch a movie they even hand out fuzzy blankets incase the ocean breeze is a little too chilly. Oh, so much fun.

DON Define "bad movie"? That is your opinion……just the reason that I don't get involved in boards like this. We all have our reasons for liking them or not liking them. NO REASON to be soooo HARSH!!!
