GTY question

We always book a GTY suite at the lowest price available, usually Category A. For a cruise we are interested in, the website says "Category A suites are wait-listed only".

Does this mean they can still be booked as a GTY? If no Category A becomes available, does this mean one is 'off the boat'?

Advice appreciated!

(and of course Plan B is to book a Category A1 GTY as these are still available).

I believe you have to book in a category that is available. We recently booked in an A category on Odyssey and were rewarded with an upgrade to a V6 category. Yay! It's always a gamble, but sometimes it pays off.;)
