Photo Question

First cruise on HAL coming up on 31 March, I am wondering does HAL still have pictures taken with the Captain? If so, when? Seems like it has become a thing of the past on Celebrity & Princess. Thanks & Cheers!

P.S. Did do a fruitless search so please forgive if this is redundant!

My parents just arrived back from the Volendam, and yes, they still take photos with the Captain on one of the formal nights. You can enter the lounge from either side depending if you would like to go through his line, or just enter the lounge.

On the Zuiderdam they were in the Queens Lounge 45 minutes before each dinner seating, at the oppisite end of the ship, not in front of the dinningroom like we thought :) We almost missed it too! But it was not just the captain either, the Hotel Manager was there as well. It was nicely done too :)

We just got off the Maasdam, and yes there was a welcome aboard reception the first night in the Rembrandt Lounge and the Captain was at the door to welcome all and we all had our picture taken with him. They were taking pictures all over the ship each day but there was no high pressure to buy any. We ended up buying a few, one in particular was a picture taken of the bow of the Maasdam on the first day showing the twenty foot waves coming over the top. (Bought that one in case our friends didn't believe we had really rough seas!). They also took pictures with the pirate, the sailor, etc. as you got off the ship in each port. No pressure though. Enjoy the Maasdam. We certainly did! Our only disappointment was that we didn't get to stop at Half Moon Cay due to weather. since it was our first cruise with HAL we were looking forward to seeing the beauty that everyone has talked about! Maybe next year.

Yes, Cheric, sad that we couldn't stop at HMC!! It is lovely!! Lots of opportunities to have photos taken on the Maasdam and no pressure. We bought lots. The best ship photos we have. How about those waves on the first day or so!? It was awful and yet, all I can really think of are the fun things we did!! Thank goodness - my hindsight is not 20/20!!!;)

The Captain normally shows up for the "Captain's Party" on the first formal night and you can get your picture taken with him. Also, if you are a mariner and get invited to the Mariner Party, he shows up there and you can get a picture with him.
