Has anyone done Trail of the Ancients excursion without Mark Eddowes?

Hi,

 

We found out that Mark Eddowes will not be on May 25th sailing.

We heard so many wonderful things about this Trail of the Ancients excursion and are very disappointed that he will not be there. I have contacted Paul Gaugin and they told me that it will be done by a local guide. Has anyone done this excursion with a local guide? Any feedback?

We did the Trail of the Ancients with Mark Eddowes and it was very good, but I think the local guide could do a good job too. We did the Three Coconut back in '08 and the local guide did a very good job of discussing the anthropology and customs of the islands. It is too bad Dr. Eddowes won't be on the trip but I think you will enjoy it. Be sure and bring repellent, the mosquitoes were pretty bad.
