Casino question

If I am reading the boards correctly it looks like Carnival does not let you get money directly from the cashier that gets billed to your sign and sail card (we are used to NCL where we always know we can do this if running short on cash) other than if you use your card in a slot machine, establish a pin number, and request a specified amount on the machine which you then have to cash out from the machine and then redeem at the cashier. Is that correct?

That's true that you can get $ at the table and pay a 3% charge. If you use a slot to do it you take the $ out of your card and put it in the slot, then you have to cash out back to your card and then go to the cage to get the $. At least that's how it was on the Triumph.

You can get cash advance from your account at the cashier but you will get charged 3%. If you get cash advance from the slot machine you will not get charged the 3%. That is why people do it thru the slot machines.

Then you just take your card to the cashier and cash out.

Ok good. In this case that is exactly what I was hoping. My 26 year old son is sailing with us for this trip and he definitely likes to gamble so I won't be lying if I say he can only take his $50 or whatever he is planning for the week and he can't get more because he would have to pay a fee. I won't mention the slot workaround. ;). He probably won't be as tempted anyway because he plays Texas Hold-em and I read Carnival does not have tournaments like NCL so this is all good. ;)

LOL! 3% of $50 = $1.50.....to a gambler that's peanuts:p

That's what I was thinking. Before I go through the hassle of slots, cards, redeeming, etc. I would just pay the 3% or hit the ATM and just pay the $5.

It always amazes me the gyrations people go through to save a few bucks.

Sorry,, this could be good or it could be bad.

Bad, because Carnival does have a great big electronic Texas Hold-Em table. No dealer,,everything is computer. You have to use your S&S to play. No cash involved. Yes, they do have a couple of tournaments during the week.

Good? If he's any good, he could walk away with a few hundred dollars.

Table has 10 chairs. 1 or 2 might be "good" players. 1 or 2 might be "intermediate" players,,,, the rest are "novice" players willing to give the good and intermediate players their money.:D

Bad,,, you insert your S&S card into the machine, setup your account, open your bankroll with (let's say) $50. (charged to your S&S card)

Tired of playing? want to leave the table? Cash out your bankroll. It goes into your poker bank.

Let's say when you got up, your account was $75.

Later, you want to sit in again.

Insert your card, shows your balance of $75, asks how much you want to begin play, you type in $50.

On and on it goes.

Here's the kicker,,, the money from the poker table never goes back to your S&S card. It always stays in your special "poker" bank.

To cash out the poker bank attached to your S&S card, you MUST cash out at the casino cage before it closes on the last night.
