Dicenator Posted April 28, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2011 I just came off a cruise on the Celebrity Summit this past Saturday, 4/23. I experience the bounciest craps table that I've ever played on anywhere. It was not enjoyable at all playing under these conditions. I'm going on another cruise the end of June on the Norwegian Jewel. Can anybody report on what the craps table was like as far as bounce characteristics either on the Jewel or another Norwegain ship. I was on the Norwegain Dawn in 2007 and recall a neutral bounce table. Royal Caribbean in 2007 (Explorer of the seas) had a neutral bounce table. Carnival (Liberty, Valor and Glory) all had identical bounce characteristics being slightly more than a neutral bounce. Princess (Emerald) had the deadest table I've ever played on. sailor_jimc Posted April 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2011 I only have been on one NCL ship. All I can tell you is they have 3x4x5x odds. I don't remember the dice bouncing off the table much unless they were thrown hard. But without knowing what you consider a neutral bounce, I can't be much help there. Dicenator Posted April 29, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted April 29, 2011 Sailor_Jimc I would describe a neutral bounce as typically a table with a felt layout without any closed cell foam beneath it. Microfiber covered tables will tend to be slightly bouncier than felt but it mostly depends on what is under the layout. For example with my Underhand throw on a neutral bounce table I will land the dice at 23/24 inches from the wall and they will bounce low and hit the lower straight portion of the rubber wall where it is flat below the pyramids. On the Celebrity Summit using the same throw I was landing the dice at 36 inches from the wall and was still getting bounces up into the pyramids on maybe half of my throws. Dicenator Posted April 29, 2011 Author #4 Share Posted April 29, 2011 I just spoke to the Corporate Director of Casino operations for Norwegian. He confirmed the following: 1- The tables all have neutral bounce characteristics. 2- They do allow dice setting. 3- 3X/4X/5X odds with all the prop bets except for the hopping bets. Grandpaul Posted January 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2013 NCL has the best casinos at sea. I've played them since 1989.
Dicenator Posted February 4, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted February 4, 2013 The Director of Casino Operations for Norwegian Cruise lines lied to me when he told me that all of their ships have neutral bounce craps tables. I have personal experience as follows: Jewel- Very bouncy Gem - Beautiful neutral bounce table Star - Very bouncy Epic - Very bouncy (not first hand) I am going on the Gem again next month on March 22 or 23rd and I'm hoping that the table is still as good as when I was on this ship in Nov., 2011. I have also booked the Breakaway for November 10th (I think). We really enjoy Norwegian ships but I don't go on them that frequently because of the hit or miss craps table conditions.
