robrienwa Posted May 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2004 I see soome reallt great rates for August cruises. Is it risky to cruise in August? Hurricane season? Bad Weather? Advice on this subject much appreciated. We're looking at E. Carib. Thanks! Desperately want to be a first time cruiser
ASM Posted May 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We did the western last Aug. Perfect weather but very hot; as southerners we are used to that. The ship can outmaneuver a hurricane. They are more likely in Sept anyway. Really, I've lived all my life in hurricane territory and you have nothing to fear.Just relax and go for it. General Max Posted May 11, 2004 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2004 August would be a good time to book an Alaska cruise. No hurricanes to worry about up there. General Max 08/27/2004 Ryndam Alaska
trish1c Posted May 11, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Crossing the street is a risk; so is getting out of bed in the morning. You can't predict the weather no matter where, when or how you vacation. The cruise lines will take great pains to avoid hurricannes beyond that, it's up to mother nature & the weatherman. kruisinkat Posted May 11, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 11, 2004 Hurricane season is from June thru November. Peak cruising time. I've cruise in Sept & October 4 times. Got caught in 1 Hurricane. Worse case scenario..we left a day later and received that cruise for 1/2 off the price and my next cruise (this June) for 1/2 off. Missed one port. Highly unlikely to happen...and to me...I like having the 1/2 off! LOL Go and have fun. Things will be great! 06/04 Holiday Cruise
