Are shops closed on Good Friday?

I just read a post that the shops are closed in St. Martin on Good Friday. Anyone know if that is the case? (I tried doing a search to see if this question has been addressed already but I keep getting an error message.) I wanted to browse some shops and basically go to the beach in St. Martin. Anyone know if my shopping is going to be limited?? Thanks in advance.
