Usual Suite Cruiser, but Booked An Aft Balcony on the SKY 4 Day Bahamas...Mini Review

Had a wonderful time on the Sky!

We usually book a suite, but thought we'd grab an aft balcony for this 4 day cruise. The only thing we missed was the cabin space. We thought we'd miss Cagney's for breakfast and lunch, but the food was great wherever we ate. We ate at Crossings (MDR), Le Bistro and Il Adiggio. The Food and Beverage Manager invited us to eat lunch at Cagney's one afternoon. We loved the appetizers and dessert, as usual, but my coveted Kosher Chicken was sadly overdone and the polenta was so dry. It was the only disappointment though:)

The weather was wonderful!

Went to Deadman's Reef at Paradise Cove in Freeport. Nice time.

GSC was outstanding! Loved it!

Nassau was fun. Walked around Atlantis then back to the ship for a nice quiet lunch.

Great staff and crew.

Again, the best food we have had so far on an NCL ship:)

Any questions you have I'll try to answer.

Hi jvsnana, how was your time at Deadman's Reef? DH and I booked that for our cruise

(first one!) in September when we'll be on the SKY. I've read a few reviews where people complained about all of the sand fleas...not sure if they are bad like that just during certain months?

So jealous of the Aft Balcony! We started out with an MidShip Inside, but I called last week and upped to the MidShip O/V. We're on a tight budget, so no balcony for us...THIS time anyway ;)

We really enjoyed Deadman's Reef. We were picked up promptly at 9am in a nice air-conditioned van. Smitty gave us a nice history of Bahamas as we drove the 20 mins. to Paradise Cove.

We had no problem with sand fleas. We did ask about them and we were told that the wind keeps them away.

We had our own snorkel equipment so we did not rent theirs, however we did rent 2 lounge chairs for $3 each. We had the conch fritters for lunch at $4.00. There were restrooms and plenty of shade.

It was very quiet with about 25 people max while we were there. We saw lots of fish while we snorkeled and it was very easy to swim. I would suggest water socks for swimming, as there are lots of rocks/coral.

I would definitely return!

Our balcony was great to have, however you'll be fine in your OV. On such a short cruise you'll be on the beach most days anyway :)

Have a blast and enjoy the Sky!

Glad to hear you enjoyed Paradise Cove/Deadman's Reef - we have heard a lot of good things about it. Just a few people who reviewed it mentioned the sand fleas, but maybe we'll bring some bug spray along just in case.

Thanks for the update :)

I would bring some bug spray just in case! We went last October and we were fine until after it rained...then we were eaten alive :rolleyes: We had a great time and had our bites for a week to remind us :D

They told us it was because of the rain shower that they were biting so bad so don't know if it is time of year or weather that makes the bigger difference.

(first one!) in September when we'll be on the SKY. We just returned from the 4 day Bahamas cruise on the SKY you will not be disappointed as this was our first cruise as well.

I've read a few reviews where people complained about all of the sand fleas...not sure if they are bad like that just during certain months? Saw no signs of sand fleas :)

We started out with an MidShip Inside, but I called last week and upped to the MidShip O/V. You will not regret the move, we had a midship OV as well cabin 4014 perfect size for us no complaints there either. Hopefully you get Gerald for your room steward he is awesome will take care of anything you need.

We were on the 8th floor cabin 8080 right in the middle.

The balcony had 2 chairs and a small table approx. 6 feet in depth.

We were right over the Stardust Theater and it was quite loud during the shows, but always ended by 10:30pm.

We had the usual Buffet crumbs on our balcony each morning and also some cigarette ashes and used matches  I always wonder why people would throw stuff over the railing:confused::confused::confused:

Thanks. I'm scheduled to be right above the room you were in when we go on the Sky in August.

Hi..how have they decorated the Sky. Is it completely different from when she was the "Pride of Aloha"? Are the colors bright like the Jewel and Pearl? What were the Cabins like. Are all of the Resturants names changed? She was a great Ship when I was on her.:p

You will have a great time in the Aft Balcony. We enjoyed the sunsets as we left the ports!

The decor is still somewhat Hawaiian...most pictures in the hallways ect. are the same. They have a more subdued color scheme than the Pearl. The Cruise Consultant, Jamie, said the carpets and fabrics were changed and there is the addition of the casino. I think all of the restaurants have the same names :) It's a small ship and easy to find your way around!
