Type Of Currency

Recommended Posts

I doubt you will find places that accept US dollars. However, many places accept US credit cards, and that's usually the best deal you can get for the exchange rate, anyway. For those places that need cash, you can get it out of ATM's all over Europe.

Have a great trip!

I will agree with the last poster. Use your credit card when you can but you will need euros every where else. The only place on the European side of the Med that still takes dollars is Istanbul Turkey.

Have a great next cruise.

Iris Faye,

The only city that will take American dollars out of the ones you have mentioned is Dubrovnik.

We visited Italy and the Greek Isles last year as well as Dubrovnik and the currency for those two countries is Euros wheras Dubrovnik has its own currency and they are happy to take both U.S. dollars and Euros. They even gave us change in Euros instead of their currency.

You won't need a huge amount to spend in Dubrovnik other than money to pay to walk on the wall and lunch. There are shops selling souvenirs but we didn't find anything of interest there and most of the shops close between 1pm and 3pm.
