cindy7371 Posted May 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2011 We arrive at the Anchorage Airport around 11 am and don't fly out of there until 11:30 pm. Where can we go for about 10 hours or so? Is there anything to see near the airport? How far is the airport from the city?
laughing husky Posted May 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2011 get in touch your computer....go to Anchorage.net and you will find several tours that you can do...Salmonberry is one of then and 907 is another....they will pick you up, I believe, from the airport....show you a lot more than you could see for a day and deposit you back to the airport.....Both tour outfits are great....but first, go to Anchorage.net.... Budget Queen Posted May 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 11, 2011 A car rental is an excellent opportunity to really see plenty in a short time, and actually, I would suggest just picking up a one way rental via AVIS from Whittier, with an Anchorage airport drop. Although costly, with a usual $125 drop fee, most tours are in the $50 pp range++ anyway, plus your transfer to Anchorage costs. May not be significantly different. Anchorage airport is 20 minutes from downtown, without traffic. Most transfers, have the option for downtown drop offs with luggage storage at the Egan Center, which is also the shuttle pick up back to the airport. Plenty to see and do.
