Sheraton Old San Juan - $86!!!!

Anyone looking to stay at the Sheraton Old San Juan for a pre- or post-cruise stay should run on over to Hotwire right now. The price has dropped again. Awhile back it was $84 (right after they switched to the Sheraton), but then out of the blue, jumped up to $144 and higher, where it remained. I wanted this specific hotel for our pre-cruise stay in December, so I figured I would just wait to see if I could find it cheaper on another discount site. Today on a whim, just decided to check out Hotwire, and there it was - 3.5* Hotel in San Juan for $86 (I knew it was the Sheraton OSJ by the amenities - casino, restaurant, pool, fitness center, tennis nearby, business center and laundry facilities - found this out at betterbidding.com). Anyway, just thought I'd pass along this deal to anyone who might be interested.

Anyone with questions can feel free to email me too.

I don't think that's the case. I called to get the pricing for the same pre-cruise night to see if there was any special deal you could get via phone rather than internet, and they gave me a price for the one night. And, as I said, I just booked my one night on Hotwire at this hotel. Give it a try.

Many times hotels will require a 2 night minimum if booked thru the hotel or some outlets- while others can get the same hotel for one night. This was the case for me with the Monteleone in NOLA. Using travelaxe, the lowest quote said that there was the 2 night min., paying an extra $10 I was able to book it thru a different company.

Yes, I also got the Sheraton for April 9, 2005 three weeks ago thru hotwire for $83 :)

I saw on priceline that you got the Radisson Ambassador for $80.00

What happened to that booking?

I'm a bit confused? Are you talking different dates?

I have been trying priceline for a month. I'm going to check out hotwire, for my 1st time.

Hi Kelly...Saw your post on better bidding. I also got the Sheraton for $87, a terrific price for Dec 23 compared to the web price. I just checked again today and the price is $150. Nice dinner to be had for the savings:)

Sunny - Yes, I got the Radisson Ambassador for my POST-cruise stay awhile back. I wasn't set on having a specific hotel for after the cruise - just a nice place to relax and unwind. My Hotwire bid that got me the Sheraton OSJ is for my PRE-cruise stay. I wanted this specific hotel for before the cruise - just for it's location. From my visit to San Juan in 2003 on our Victory cruise, I knew it was a nice hotel in a great location - especially being right across the street from the port. I found the betterbidding website that helps you figure out which hotels they are offering on Hotwire by the amenities listed before you purchase and so, that was perfect - I got my hotel for a great price. Hope that clears things up for you. :o)

Tania - I noticed that too. I check back periodically even now just to see what it's going for and it had jumped up to $150, the day after I got it, it was $90, saw it yesterday for $83, and just checked now and it's $87 - so it does jump around. If you want to book this hotel though, I think if you see it anywhere in the $80's, you should just grab it. Otherwise, it could end up in the $140-$150 range for a long time as it did back when I was first looking.

Definitely take the savings for a nice dinner - I recommend Ajili Mojili (http://www.hdmdesigns.com/ajili/history.htm) - scroll down and click on Menu - this restaurant was WONDERFUL - the Filete del Caldero was INCREDIBLE - melts in your mouth (literally!) and excellent mofongos.

Thanks for your help!

I'm watching hotwire, but my darn computer freezes up as soon as I click on - find me a hotel. Not sure what the problem is, but I have missed it when the price has dropped. Very frustrating! My computer works on other sites.

I thought the Sheraton OSJ was restricting its reservations to a 2 night minimum --- has anyone gotten it recently for just 1 night????

On Hotwire, I got it for one night.

The two night minimum is through the regular reservation system.

I finally was able to get hotwire to work. Don't know what the problem is, but I now have it on a shortcut on my desktop. I will not let another pricedrop get past me. Ha!

It is back up to $ 150.00 for April 9th.

Another question- How do I check the hotels hotwire uses? I can't find the link on betterbidding?

I have used priceline for years, successfully. Hotwire is new to me.

Thanks again!

Just go to betterbidding.com and scroll down until you see the forum for Puerto Rico and Other Caribbean Islands. The first thread listed after you click on that forum will be:

Priceline/Hotwire Hotel Lists and Tips for Puerto Rico and other Caribbean Islands

-a list of hotels by city and essential tips for this area

Hope this helps.

Does anyone know if you can walk to the Pan Am pier from the Sheraton hotel. We are leaving on the 30th of october on the Adventure of the seas. Have it narrowed down to three hotels the Sheraton the Corral Princess or the Comfort. We really think the At wind chimes would be nice but i emailed them and they said that they only do 3 day reservations. Well any help would sureely be appreciated. Thanks JD

Hi - From what I can tell, there aren't any hotels within walking distance of the Pan Am pier, which is where the cruises that start/end in Puerto Rico dock. There's a posting with an aerial photo of San Juan on this board (I just bumped it towards the top) that shows where the Sheraton is related to the Pan Am pier.

BTW, we're staying at the Sheraton before our May 2005 cruise and got $130/night including taxes on Travelocity.

I've spent a month obsessing over priceline + hotwire. It drove me crazy cuz I have used priceline for years + years successfully, and it's never been so difficult to get a place.

I'm running out of time + I'm really busy at work right now - so I booked "Hampton Inn + Suites". It is rated # 7 on the "tripadvisor", and I have read many good reviews. I got a good Canadian price on Expedia.ca

I also had to get a place for post cruise in Key West. Now - that is another difficult place to book. I booked the "Lighthouse Court" thru escapes.ca. Again I have read good things about it.

Good luck to you all!

I heard about this on betterbidding.com, but where do I enter the code?

Thanks for your help.

I still have to get a place for Toronto, and it seems to be a tough date to get on priceline. I've used priceline for years + years, but new to hotwire.
