flaka Posted March 15, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2005 Hello! I had a question regarding snorkeling at the beaches vs. on the day sails... is the snorkeling on the beaches just as good as where the sails take you? Just wondering... since we live in Florida we are not as much interested in the novelty of sailing (or the beach for that matter), as we are good snorkeling -- so I was thinking if the snorkeling at the beaches was just as good perhaps we shouldn't spend the money on a day sail? Help? Thanks!
kwork Posted March 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2005 In St. John and St. Thomas there are great places to snorkel without getting on a boat. When you're there ask around about how the tides are - some places get cloudy if the tides are kicking up the sand. Magen's Bay in St. Thomas is very nice and just about any of the bays on St. John make for good snorkeling. Ask where the good coral reefs are. Hope that helps. I was just there a couple weeks ago - It was great!
