adamken Posted May 18, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2011 Just off the Freedom of the Seas as Diamond members for the 1st time. Wow, they have some really nice perks for Diamond Members. It started off in line outside the long terminal line, a worker said to have your set sail pass and passports in hand, I raised mine up and he said, Oh, diamond members go thru the center door, (only about 5 people in line, compared to the well over a 100) went right thru security, went upstairs to get in line to check in, another long line, but there was a Diamond line, again, only 1 in front of us, then after we got our sea pass card, most people had to sit and wait to board, not us, right on the ship, we were having a drink at the sky bar while our friends were sitting waiting to board, we were onboard about 45 minutes before our Gold friends. Everynight between 5:30 and 8:30, they had a diamond lounge up in the Viking Crown Lounge that had appetizers and free drinks. Breakfast every morning from 6-9ish, We had our own area in the dining room deck 5 on disembarkation day with food.drinks, They also had a Diamond Breakfast invite one day (didn'y attend that one) and a welcome back diamond members party They really treat the Diamond members really nice. cruisegirl1 Posted May 18, 2011 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2011 So – were you taken to a shorter terminal line prior even walking in the terminal and waiting in the ling line for the security areas? That would be GREAT! Thanks, M

W have used these lines ( inside) for years, but I never heard of a line to get through security faster. I'll be on the Freedom soon and see if it is still in place. I hope so. sgermic Posted May 18, 2011 #15 Share Posted May 18, 2011 How many people were in your party total? Good to know that you tried. I'm Diamond and we're sailing with a couple who have never sailed before, and the check in process can be kind of overwhelming. It would be nice to use my Diamond perk, but tag them along as well. I'm figuring if I use the whole "just act like we all belong in this line" tactic, that it'll work. Was there a Diamond gift in your stateroom when you arrived? There was in San Juan when we sailed last year...we were escourted to the front of the line...was a very nice perk...:)

You did a cruise on a ship that has a designated "Diamond Lounge" and has the same perks as what one would receive in the Concierge Lounge. Only Freedom and Oasis class have a designated Diamond Lounge. On ships that do not have a Diamond Lounge, there will be a nightly Diamond Event where only wine, champagne and soft drinks are served at no charge with all other drinks available at a 25% discount off their normal price. Just don't want you disappointed if you happen to book a cruise on a smaller ship and once on board come to find out that there is no Diamond Lounge. Was there a Diamond gift in your stateroom when you arrived? C&A does not give out gifts by C&A level any longer, unless you are on a Member's Cruise. They discontinued that a couple of years ago. You will receive a Welcome Aboard Basket along with 2 beverages. You make your beverage selection of water, juice or soda when you log into the C&A Member's Page and then click on On Board Preference. We always bring friends and family into the pre-boarding Diamond waiting area. Of course only members are allowed in the DL and CL but waiting area has always been fine. Will be on Oasis in Sept. so in Diamond Lounge is it free drinks or just wine and champagne?

No, I did not know that our family could have boarded with us! Learn something new on this board every day. Thank you. (The lines weren't long so they joined us in the Windjammer in 30 minutes or so. Still, it was nice to sit in that nice, quiet area and have a private escort for boarding the ship.)

I'll put in my 2 cents worth before something is said to me. We were all in different cars coming from different locations and never discussed trying to meet at the port. We didn't leave them behind at all. In the future, if we all happen to be a the same hotel, it's nice to know that we can all board together.
