dogswithdots Posted March 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 16, 2005 We are flying into Ft Lauderdale airport and our cruise leaves from Miami. What's the best way to get from the airport to Miami? Is a taxi okay (and how much is it?), or is there a reliable service to call and arrange for a car to meet us (and how much is it?). How long is the journey on a Sunday? And are there other options? Thanks.
jewopaho Posted March 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2005 We've found that the most expedient (and least expensive) option is to rent a car. There's no drop-off charge (perhaps there is with Avis, but the others shuttle vehicles back and forth all the time), rates are low, and you can arrange for the return trip at the same time. Depending upon how much stuff you're dragging along with you, you can likely get away with the "four wheels and an air conditioner" model (you always get a better car anyway). Drive time should be about 40 minutes - maybe less on a Sunday. We've done it several times - piece of cake! Have a great cruise. Al
TheWog Posted March 16, 2005 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2005 www.bcsexpress.com was very reliable for us. We did not go to Miami, but I do know he goes there. Give him a shot.

serene56 Posted March 16, 2005 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2005 You can not drop your car off at the pier-= you will need to take it to the drop off place and take their free shuttle to the pier. We used http://www.larryslimo.com Had 6 adults and wanted a stretch limo. Costs was 33.00 pp round trip. (included tip) taxi will cost you 75 bucks one way. jewopaho Posted March 16, 2005 #6 Share Posted March 16, 2005 You can drop off the car at a pre-arranged location, then just hop the shuttle to the terminal. Prices vary at different times of year. I think I remember paying just over $25 for a car the size of a Chevy Cavalier. There were two of us, so it was plenty big. I liked the idea of traveling when it was best for us. Start checking the rental car companies, and have lots of fun! Al
