Brilliance 12nt Med cruise - which nights will be formal in MDR?

Hi, we're doing the 12 night Med Venice cruise in July, sailing from Barcelona. It's my understanding that there will be 2 or 3 formal nights, but would really like to know which nights will be formal? I've got 3 small children, and wish to organise stateroom babysitting for the formal nights - hence the reason for wanting to know the dates... Does anyone know from past experience, or can anyone hazard an educated guess? :confused:

We did this cruise in Oct 2008. We had 4 ports in a row after we left Barcelona, so the first formal night was on Day 6, the first "at sea" day we had. The second formal night was the day we left Venice. It seemed that this night was not as formal, maybe because people didn't expect a third formal night. I know that we didn't. That night there was also a masked ball so that people could wear the masks they had purchased in Venice.The third formal night was on Day 10, a sea day on our way to Malta. You can usually expect the formal nights to be on sea days.

@cougfan: thanks for the feedback - we also have 4 port days before our sea day, so perhaps we will follow the same pattern with the formal nights. Wish RCI would confirm these details when you make your booking - would really help with planning, especially when you have small children to take into account... Would also help in terms of packing and luggage restriction - to know whether to pack for 2 or 3 formal nights.

The RCI website DOES say for a 12 night cruise there are 3 formal nights, so I don't know why this would be a shock.

 

Weirdly enough, there are only 2 formal nights on a 13 night cruise (Not that I ever really see many 13 night cruises!)
