private excursion

we have not booked a excursion in the Grand Caymons, we were planning on finding someone to take us once we got off the ship, good idea or bad?

I would have a plan in place. The one time we grabbed an excursion after getting off the ship, they really did not treat us very well. I kept getting yelled at during snorkling, when I tried to be about 10 feet from the bulk of the group, so I would not get kicked.

If you are looking for a private charter/water based, I would recommend Outrage tours with John Michael Stafford (I believe that was his name). He will do whatever you like, Stingrays/ snorkeling/ starfish beach, fishing, tubing. You are the boss, and I have read great reviews. We have booked with him for our trip next April. He also has a sailboat if you would rather opt for that instead of his motor boat.

you could wait til you get off the ship and then look at all the various operators BUT-

 

youdo not know if they are insured or if they will get you back for that last tender.

what you will do is go to their van and sit and wait until they get the recommended amount of people to make the tour worth their while.

 

Do yourself a favor-- and take a tour from a vendor that comes highly recommended from the boards here
