go titans Posted May 26, 2011 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2011 Anyone stayed here (Sleep Inn - 1500 SE 5th Ave - Dania)? Good area / bad area? What's close by within walking distance? Have young kids and olders with trouble handling long walks. Won't have a car. How close it is to beach, restaurants, what is there to do around the hotel. royalcruz Posted May 26, 2011 #2 Share Posted May 26, 2011 There is a Publix next door that sells wine, as well as casual Italian and Mexican restaurants. The beach is at least a mile walk. There isn't really anything else around, but this place is a great option if you are on a budget because the price is good and they include breakfast and shuttles. We stay here the night before our cruises and have never been displeased. We enjoy the mexican restaurant and have dined at the italian restaurant before the most recent ownership. Also, adjacent to the hotel is a walgreen's as well.

We have stayed there twice and are thinking about it again pre-cruise next April. We usually eat at the Mexican restaurant, you get a small discount with your Sleep Inn room key, just ask. Happy2cruise Posted May 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2011 Don't think they do the discount anymore We ate there in March and the discount on the Sleep Inn key card was honored. The discount is stated on the key card, can't remember if it's the front or back. Great Mexican food!!!!

huxlemo Posted May 29, 2011 #8 Share Posted May 29, 2011 I suggest this hotel for a one night pre-cruise stay. Walgreens is within walking distance and nice to get last minute items. They have a nice free breakfast in the morning too.
