Calling Home/Checking Email from Ports on AOS Southern Caribbean Itinerary

I will be on the AOS on 3/20. My dad is just getting out of the hospital and I'd like to call home and/or check email in the ports of Aruba, Curacao, St. Martin and St. Thomas. Does anyone have suggestions on the best way to call home is. Also, are there any internet cafes recommended for email?

Thank you!!

You can access email right onboard the ship. You just need to have a web based email account which can be set up for free (i.e. AOL, Yahoo). Check your cruise documents...I believe it talks about it right in there.

Good Luck.

Checking email on the ship is expensive at $.50 per minute. In Aruba less than a block or so from the ship I found an internet cafe that charged very little for email and only $.10 per minute for phones plus it was direct dial to the US. In Curacao I also found an internet cafe that was $1 for 30 minutes.

I did not look in St. Maarten.

My cell, Verizon, worked fine in St. Thomas and PR.

Hope this helps.

At the RCI Online you have the option of using internet for 50 cents a minute and using the web browser to access hotmail/yahoo/aol but there was also an option to send an email for 50 cents using (I believe) those same email addresses. I don't think those are timed but charged per email but I could be wrong.

We sent email using the free 10 min from the C&A book :P

We used the ship's internet to keep in contact with our little kids while we were on the ship. Yes, .50 a minute is a little more expensive than what you can find on land, but it was worth it to us!

Our friends tried to use AOL, but did not have very good luck. It would be better to set up a yahoo or hotmail before you leave home so you don't have to spend money to do it. (We had hotmail...usually worked).

Another note, when in port, use cafes on land. The internet on the ship does not usually work while in port!
