First Time Cruiser . . . HELP!

I am going on my first cruise ever on Oct 2011 with my BF. We are on the Carnival Elation and will be going to Calica and to Cozumel. I would love some feedback on HOT SPOTS to see and do while in these places. My BF has cruised before and has visited Cozumel once, 7 years ago. Can't wait to hear back from everyone!! Depends on what you mean by hot spots. Do you mean places to socialize/eat & drink/swim & snorkel/shop/visit ruins/zip line.....get my drift? Give us an idea of what you are interested in and we can give you the hot spots.

 

Family Hot Spot: Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Xplor

 

Active Hot Spot: Akumal, Hidden Worlds, Xplor, Tres Rios, Selvetica

 

Shopping Hot Spot: Avenida 5 in Playa Del Carmen

 

Socializing Hot Spots: Avenida 5 (PDC), Tulum Beach

 

Cultural Hot Spots: Tulum Ruins, Coba, Chichen Itza
