Transportation from anchorage airport to Mt McKinley Princess Lodge

We are getting in too late to take the Princess Coach to Mt McKinley Princess Lodge. Any recommendations on getting transportation. So far I have gotten 2 quotes of $495 and $535 for 5 people. This seems very expensive. Thought of renting a car but you cant drop it off at the lodge so we would have to drive it back to the airport and would miss the train ride back to Anchorage. Any suggestions?

Ouch! Unfortunately, the McKinley Princess lodge isn't really near anything with any other form of transportation than the Princess coach. Depending on how late you get in, your best bet may be a room in Anchorage for the night and a Princess transfer the next day. The privately owned Park Connection Bus (http://www.alaskacoach.com) also offers a once a day early morning trip to the McKinley Princess leaving Anchorage at 7am.

Rent the car. The train ride back to Anchorage is not very special. The train borders the road.

 

If you are on a Princess cruise tour, the McKinley Princess is a long way from fun things to do and is no where close to Denali.

 

Since you are getting in so late, you may be just as well off renting the car and ditching the cruise tour entirely (unless it is too late to get your money back). JMHO

Car rental is really your best option. Anything else is going to be expensive.
